You don't have to spend hundreds to get a folding bike that you can use for an international cycle tour. Second hand folding bikes can be excellent value if you are prepared to do any repairs yourself! Small repairs and replacing any worn out parts can be done with simple tools and these light weight bikes can be stored easily in a cupboard or under a bed.

We Dutch may be more keen on cycling, but we don't have landscapes like that. Feels like we have a proper representative in NZ who does all the cycling for us over there. Keep on going because it may feel like you are on your own out there but we Dutch are following your adventures with great enthousiasm.

Yes, as a Londoner I admit I was unaware that the Thames estuary stretched as far as Kiwiland. The weather looks fairly similar to here cloudwise, though it must be colder here right now as I’m wearing jumpers and jackets on my bike. Nice stripy shirt near the end. Great video.

beautiful.....I'm sure this answer is in another video but how many gears does your folding bike have? I have a 2 speed Brompton....I want to use it for places I have to fly into instead of my full size bike.

Yeah that was the start point. I reckon you’d be fine on this trail with narrow tyres, but always a good idea to prepare for flats & carry a puncture repair kit! All the best for your adventure!! 🚲🏝👍☀️

Folding bike is compact it shouldn't be light weight. The more a bike weighs the more it's durable. Let me know your opinion about that

Yes it should be tough. I have ridden steel frame folding bikes but they are very heavy, the good thing about them is they are strong. My aluminium frame bike i have now is also very strong but weighs about 4kg less (its abot 11kg) that makes it a better choice for me if i fly with it internationally, since the weight limit on luggage is 23kg - meaning i can carry extra camping gear etc
