Nice looking forward to the next video! Definitely made me put this on my bucketlist and can't wait to talk to you about it. Seems like I could probably do it on my current bike without too many issues.

Whoa what a sunset. Yeah so lucky on the weather it seems! No rain, not wild storms (and winds but tail winds?). So nice.

I was also reading how NASA used this area to sort of see what the moon could be like in terms of terrain. The volcanic rock fields seem super unique.

Amazing! It's great that the weather was nice for your trip. It really does look like another planet in some sections. Great video! 😊

Looks like some beautiful stuff and seemed lucky on the weather so far. Curious about the car volumes, too bad about that but I'm sure later in the video there will be a lot less. Hot springs look rad. But also the bugs at 4:45 looked nuts! are they mosquito type things or how were the bug levels in terms of annoyance?

Day 5 warm shower looked rad. Was that a public type of camping hut?

The water crossings seem like a fun novelty but I could see how they slow you down quite a bit. Just keep on the water shoes?

What bike GPS do you use for your remote bike packing trips? I apologize if a repeat questions. I did search your channel but could not find any video's specific to what GPS you use and why. Would be a great video to share what GPS units you have used and like best. I am in Alberta, I only need a GPS unit for routing and tracking distance/ speed. I don't require all the training features. Thanks.

Cool video and amazing landscapes! May I ask you what changes did you do to the traditional divide route? I'd also like to ride it south-north to being able to ride the Westfjords without kilos of freeze-dried food! Did you went there at the end?

Did you have a lot of cars passing you on the F roads!!?? What time of year were you there? Looks like July. Impressive country

There were only lots of cars on F208 for 20km but otherwise it was pretty chill! We were there beginning of August.

Thanks for sharing this trip! I have rode that road up and out of Akureyri, so it is cool to see the descent views. Awesome video and I sure do not miss those bugs!

Well done! Iceland scenery is certainly emotionally evocative but I'm not sure if I find it beautiful, it feels so sad. I can see why people call it Mordor!

are you basically following tire marks or are you using an app? Great vid

It's a modiified route from bikepacking.com following a series of F roads.

I cycled Iceland a few years back (2013) - don't remember any tunnels on #1 near Akureyri. I got see a lot but mostly on paved roads (its on CGOAB) though I got out in the back country, courtesy of my Icelandic cousins. I have a new ride that permits a more aggressive tire. I ride a trike. If you have the route I would love to take a closer.

I found the/a route map and I have been on part of the route going south of Goðafoss to the farm where my Grandfather was born and a small church, Lundarbrekkukirkja, where my great grandmother was buried and there is a head stone my grandfather had put there which matches one in Winnipeg.

That tunnel was opened 2018, so your memory seem to be fine.
