Pretty weird sitting here thinking how beautiful those B-roll shots are before realizing I literally live there and can look out my window and see the same thing. Better yet, I could go outside and do the same thing in 10 minutes. Great video! Thanks for showing the beauty of Oregon!

There are way too many cycling channels on YT these days, most of which are not worth watching. It takes a humble guy like this to come along, who is obviously doing his trip for all the right reasons, to remind you that there are still some people who matter out there. Great shot framing, editing and music make this an absolute joy to watch. I subscribed in under 3 minutes. Stay safe brother 🙏

Hey, you know the hot water bottle trick right? If you bring most of the water in your Nalgene to a boil, fill it to the top, drop it in a sock and sleep with it tucked right up between your legs. The arteries there will pump heated blood through your body. It makes a huge difference when camping in the cold. I actually use reflectex bubble wrap envelopes around my water bottle. Also use it to keep my food warm while dehydrating. Works well! Can be used to sit on as well. Down booties are awesome too. I always bring them to sleep in if I might be camping in the cold. I use Enlightened Equipment synthetic insulated booties. Finally a good insulated pad is crucial. Maybe you have that already? Happy trails!

Yeah! learnt this after a couple of cold nights it's such a game changer.

That is why you bring an extra water bottle winter camping / ski touring in snow caves/ extreme cold. Urinate in the water bottle instead of going outside the cave/igloo/tent to pee-dump it in the morning. Use the body temperature heat from the urine in the sealed water bottle to achieve the same purpose. No stove required.

This was a joy to watch. I grew up in Bend and am intimately familiar with all the sites you biked along the route. While Oregon is recognized for its rain, geographically speaking, much of the state is made up of the high desert east of the Cascade Range. I am planning to bike the Oregon Outback Trail this Spring. All the best on your journey south.

Visited antelope in 2016 for the total solar eclipse, fun fact about the town is that while the layout of the Oregon map in rainbow 6 siege is inspired by the waco siege, the location/setting for the map is inspired by the Rajneeshpuram commune takeover of the town and surrounding areas.

I really liked the town of Antelope. Much quieter there than Shaniko, which is right next to a highway. And the little campground had running water to wash your face + a fridge with snacks. Cyclists: if you are trying to decide between the two, I say stop in Antelope! Also, there is a ton of great camping (and pretty dependable water) in the Ochocos north of Prineville.

Eastern Oregon is the least populated in the lower 48...amazing place if you are into arid landscapes, an ocean of sage brush and more stars at night than you will ever see somewhere else. All part of the Big Basin therefore some areas resemble Utah e.g. Leslie Gulch

As a native of southern Oregon, I couldn't help but admire your moxie in traveling through these empty, rugged, steep, desolate areas. As you hit highway 140 and blithely announced your change of plans to find a motel in the nearest town, I couldn't help but laugh out loud -- Adel?! There's nothing in Adel! Which you soon realized, and I'm glad you got a ride over the Warners to Lakeview. That's a tough drive in the winter, but nothing near as tough as the easterly road you abandoned, heading up the Doherty Slide and over to Denio Junction. I'm glad you skipped that section, because you probably would not have had enough food or water to make that on a bike, and the exposure to winter weather is very high up there. But kudos to you and your determination, and may all your further roads go smoothly!👍

Some interesting history for you of the small town of Antelope, OR: a cult called the Rajneesh that was started in India moved their entire compound and built basically a small city outside of Antelope OR in the 80’s and had a conflict between the cult members and the Antelope residents resulting in water poisoning, local election fraud, and more!!
