I love Lamorna Cove. It was the first cove I visited in Cornwall when we were cycling over to Mousehole from Sennen. It was also the first time I met a Cornish Leg-shagging dog. Hoping to revisit in September, and also that the dog is either not there, or has been neutered!

These are the memories that make bike touring so fantastic 😜 I loved the cove and fortunately saw no dogs of any variety. My legs remained unsullied.

Yeah, I'd not thought about it for a long time but for some reason it really got to me, looking at the old lifeboat house and the waves and just trying to imagine what it must be like to go out and do that. Not just those chaps but all of the crews who do it every day. Bloody amazing when you think about it.

I can only apologise to you and your wife :) I'm very pleased to encourage people out on stupid adventures, I'll happily have that on my tombstone in fact! And yeah, it was a very relaxed day. To be fair this route would benefit from every day being that relaxed as there are so many nice places that you could easily spend several hours - beaches and little harbour towns.

Aah, another adventure begins! Excellent. Not many miles this first day, perhaps, but it does appear the hours were well spent. This episode is a good reminder that although traveling by bicycle allows us to see things we’d never notice in a car, there are times when it’s good to slow things down even lower than pedaling speeds.
@JethroJessop3 жыл бұрын
This route more than any I've done! If I was to do it again I'd take a week or more so I could stop at every beach, hilltop and harbour cafe. I seriously think 15-20 miles a day to really get the most out of this one.

Ah the Prologue to the adventure. Cornwall is certainly a different terrain to what you have cycled on before. I'm sure the Surly is the ideal bike for such a trip as well. Good mention on the RNLI also, your completed right. Really looking forward to your series of videos on this one.

The Ogre was great - hit boggy moorland, sandy beaches, rocky trails and tarmac on this one and the Surly ate them all up. I love that bike. I'll get on to the edit for day 2 soon. Should be up within the next week.

Hi Jethro great video about where I was raised, live, cycle and love, just for your information the Penlee coxwain was Trevelyan Richards and Charlie Greenhaugh was the pub landlord from Mousehole. Traditionally fishermen formed the lifeboat crews and are understandably very knowledgeable seafarers, today the crews seem to be more diverse because of the changing job market. Thank you for being so complimentary about Cornwall, all the best, Andy.

I love Cornwall, its a fantastic part of the world! I'll be back down over Christmas this year and I'm already looking forward to windswept beaches and crashing waves. Thank you for the names. I wish I'd read them out in the video actually but that section was all rather unplanned and I just felt like it was something I couldn't pass by without mentioning. It's a powerful story and you couldn't wish for a better example of heroism as I see it.

I’ll admit it, I clicked then I clicked for a short time to map search “where the hell is west Kernow” …. And is there an East Kernow too and if not, well why not ? Audio could do with a boost for tablet speakers mate
@JethroJessop3 жыл бұрын
Kernow is Cornish for Cornwall. I only know this because of this route ;) The audio thing is a real pain. My new phone takes a really low level from the external mic and the editing software I use doesn't do a great job of boosting it before it starts to distort. The next few will be edited on desktop so should be a bit better. I'll have to investigate the mic issue though - maybe a new mic, or new camera app is needed.

@@markl2815 I use a Rode Smartlav+ but my new phone seems to record at a much lower level than my old Samsung.
