As both of you are coplaining about your knees I woudl look at your seat heights and saddle positions as a cm too low messes your knees up, too high and you hips go awol. two weeks is usually enough time for the body to bruise in, your bums to season and your muscles to change up a gear. lower gear and higher cadence. for pushing a bit of seatbelt webbing sewn into a loop so you can use your shoulders and upper body more. a wet bandana on the neck helps cool you down. keep a two litre pop bottle squashed flat for extra water on bad days but you ideally need a pint an hour until your body adjusts and needs less. have fun and take care.

Honestly, that narrow hiking path up the side of the mountain…on bikes!! What on earth!?! So glad you decided on a smoother trail in the end. Scary hearing shots fired, especially in such a quiet looking place. Glad you stayed safe. Happy birthday Joe! I’m sure I can remember being 30….a long time ago! @@ItsOhJoe Those were in large part unmarked trails for foreging wild asparagus not the marked hiking or biking paths, the cave could be in fact a WW2 bunker (there were some toughts of making a D day sort of landing in Istria). BTW Slovenia is not Balkan, if you're of this opinion than you have to include Italy as well.

I presume your route from Split takes you into Bosnia at Neum and do the short section of the country before entering Croatia again. Also by now you actually are past there but there is a new bridge in Croatia that avoids that border crossing and you can stay in Croatia. From there you will enter Montenegro? Then into Albania to Shkoder? Then North Macedonia into Greece or direct from Albania?
