I have a 6.3 kg Jack Russell terrier and she fits perfectly in my Brompton Borough basket :) I use the loops around the basket to put a couple different bungee type leads to attach to her collar so she's safe. And then away we go! I've only taken her for rides of 30mins or less so far but she seems really comfortable in there. There is a hard support underneath the basket that she's sitting on so for longer rides I'll have to find some way to cushion that. As is it is perfect for around our town, and for short adventures off the train (she's allowed on the train here in Ireland but not the buses unfortuately).

Sounds great! I made a little seatbelt for Maya for this for just in case. I made a little bed for her in there and she had her blanket to sit on.

Cool video, thanks for taking us along. Meanwhile, couldn’t help thinking about some of the gear which has helped the end result: can I please ask which drone you used here, which camera mounted on the selfie stick and the e-pump name (seen it around and wondering it’s reliability)? Thank you, safe rides.

Hi, drone is the DJI Mini 4 Pro. The camera is the DJI Osmo Action 4. I use the DJI Osmo Action 1.5m Extension Rod Kit. And the pump is the cycplus as2 pro max. I haven't had any problems with it. I charge it before every trip. I think it can pump a wheel up from flat up to 7 times. www.cycplus.com/?ref=ythrpxct

Lovely view and lovely dog. Sorry if you have addressed this question before, but how do you deal with the bumpiness on a Brampton while cycling on country roads or uneven surfaces, even non-steep? E.g. tyre choice, pre- and post-trip bike maintenance. Thank you!
@darinsadventurechronicles2 ай бұрын
I have the continental urban tyre on the front and the marathon plus on the back. And I keep the tyres inflated to above 90psi at all times. I learned the hard way with multiple punctures in one day. Otherwise I just make sure no mud collects in the breaks, chain, gears etc. I carry a little hook device thingy that gets it out. I usually degrease and clean the chain after every trip and then re-oil with muckoff. I bought a kit of there’s that included everything. I keep an eye on all the bolts etc and make sure everything’s in working order. I’ve stopped trying to avoid scratches to it now. But it’s still in pretty good shape. I’m wondering about the g line. Not sure about it though because of the weight. I suppose I need to go and test it.

Love this film. I had a little terrier which did LeJog with me riding in a basket on the front of our Brompton. She passed on a couple of years ago but seeing Maya sitting up and enjoying the view so reminded me of my dog Lil’. Little dogs love sitting up front on the Brompton, high up above the big dogs and catching the breeze! 🤗
@darinsadventurechronicles3 ай бұрын
aww, well I'm glad Lil' enjoyed the little trips on your Brommie! I thought about putting Maya in her little dog backpack or somehow using the back rack, but I figured it would be better for her to ride up front. That way, I could keep an eye on her the whole time to make sure she was okay.

Your drone segments are very well done, with so many other channels you just see them hunched over and looking into the controllers, but you've made it look really natural (around 11:20) - it's an exceptionally well set up shot. Thanks for sharing!!

Thank you! I appreciate that you noticed. The stunning setting and the glasslike water in the loch really helped with the shots as well

Your Brompton didn't fit in one of the tent's vestibules?
@darinsadventurechronicles3 ай бұрын
hiya, it does fit quite nicely in the vestibule. I use one side for the bike and the other for all my things. The bike when folded can stand up in the vestibule if it's nicely tucked in. Also fits in when layed down flat.

Another lovely video Darin ! If you do get a dog consider getting a trailer for the Brompton. There are plenty of You Tubers who tow dogs, children etc in a trailer. Allen’s E-bikes of Leighton Buzzard also sell a pet front sack, to carry your pet in, as you cycle. Obviously it wouldn’t fit a Labrador !! But Maya would fit. Look forward to the next one 😊
@darinsadventurechronicles3 ай бұрын
@@maureenarnold-hc4sg thank you for these tips! I have been looking into trailers. You ever seen that one that actually folds up and then becomes storage for your Brompton? I’m looking for something nice and light and easy to pack up!
@pootlingalong89283 ай бұрын
I bought a trailer for my dog but she hated it - staring at the back wheel and my bum wasn’t nearly as nice for her as the view she had from the front Brompton basket - look how contentedly Maya sits there up front.

Loved that , thanks for posting. Im amazed that you could bring all your stuff and still fit a dog , Brilliant 👌
@darinsadventurechronicles3 ай бұрын
thank you. Yeah just about. I usually try not to have a backpack just to save my shoulders. But to save space for Maya I filled the backpack with lots of light things. But the cycle rides weren't that long so it was ok.

Maya steals the show! She looks so cute in the brommie bag. I'm sure it makes people smile when they see her; a good conversation starter. Loving the tent - is it a Nemo? I have the Lochs & Glens cycle route on my wish list. What was the cycle pump you were using? Great vid.
@darinsadventurechronicles3 ай бұрын
@@Caroline604 hiya, yes a few people stopped to say hello especially people with dogs! The tent is the Nemo dragonfly bikepack 2p tent. It’s not a 4 season tent but I imagine it will be alright in winter in the south of England….with a good sleeping bag. Probably not good for winter in Scotland. The thing I like about it is how light it is, how small it folds up and the fact I can tie it to the Brompton handlebars. The pump is the cycplus as2 pro. If you’re thinking about getting one i think there’s a discount code for the pump in the description of this video.

Plus it was great having Maya along. She was amazing and so well behaved. She genuinely doesn’t seem to mind being on a bike and she loves being outdoors. She has actually climbed the three peaks of the UK believe it or not haha

How heavy is Maya? I would love to ride my brompton with my frenchie but wondering if he's too heavy. He's well over 10 kg.
@darinsadventurechronicles3 ай бұрын
@@pepibon28 she is 7kg. It meant I just about met the 10kg limit on the front carrier block. I was a bit over as I made her a nice comfy bed in there with a blanket plus I had a couple of things in there! Plus the bag itself is quite heavy

Is it really wild camping in Scotland when its allowed.....just a thought... Nice vid... 'Ull' east yorkshire.
@snowymatrix3 ай бұрын
Wild camping means camping in the wild as opposed to a commercial campsite. If it's "legal" or not is irrelevant 👍
@darinsadventurechronicles3 ай бұрын
@@JohnRichardson-v2l I thought wild camping was basically camping away from a campsite, no facilities etc. Just off grid. It’s really nice how you can wild camp in Scotland. I hope the majority of people continue to respect the outdoor access code and look after the land. I think I’ll go back next spring for sure for a longer trip
