Hello all, I trust you have had a lovely Easter weekend, hope the Easter bunny was kind to you. By now you are all probably slouched over the sofa in a chocolate comatose state, so thanks for joining me on another bikepacking adventure. This week we are going to be taking on Yorkshire with the Dales divide. Hope you enjoy. And as always thanks for tuning in :D Make sure to check out the website for the route details and check the before you ride. www.keepsmilingadventures.com/challenging-routes/the-yorkshire-dales-divide

New subscriber here! I just want to tell you that I stopped riding my bike 7 years ago mainly because buying a house & having children became my priority. The bike has remained forgotten in the garage & I’ve somehow gained around 3 stone! After finding your channel it has reminded me just how much I used to enjoy being on the bike and without realising I missed it a lot. I got the bike out last week, gave it a wash and tuned it up and now I’m back out on the roads and thoroughly enjoying it. I’ve also started using a turbo trainer mid-week to accelerate my fitness. So, thank you for sharing your adventures. I’m going to enjoy watching them all.

Loved the mud spattered, weather-beaten gritted teeth face with the cycling cap peak flicking up and down in the wind with just that one intro word, "Well....." If one word ever says it all! Epic adventure.

Love the adventures Josh. The epic 51mins takes us on a journey of all your emotions, from the elation of the tail winds and long descents, to the misery of the foggy moors and broken tent pole. Thanks for sharing and look forward to the next one!

not only the best biking video i have seen, one of the best videos period. the paradox in your video was when you were hurting the most and really bogged down in the middle of nowhere up in the mountains with gray clouds hovering above - that was the most moving part of your video. you are a true mad dog and an englishman. and a loon. like me!

Thanks, Josh. Absolutely epic. Your video editing skills have massively improved. The story telling is so good. As a fellow cyclist, I appreciate your drive. I'm happy with a day out and a 50 miler. No way i could manage at your level. I am 51, though and relatively happy with my fitness. Anyways thanks again for sharing your adventures. Much appreciated.

I discovered your channel about 2 weeks ago and I have to say this is now one of my favourite channels on KZbin. Your videos are incredibly well put together and I respect your grit and determination shown in these videos. Keep doing what you're doing as these videos have inspired me to get back on my bike and get out there into the wild. Keep smiling !

Great video thanks. Tip for a temp fix for a broken tent pole is to get a coke can and (presume you have a pocket knife) cut the top and bottom off and slice down the body so you have a sheet of aluminium. Wrap this around the break and use duck tape to tape the ends to the pole.

Felt your pain on a personal level after I had a tent pole break on me last month whilst doing the Second City Divide on my fat bike.. Terrible weather & didn't make Kielder. Pitched in a field, tent pole snapped & sorted of fixed it with gorilla tape only to find my tent flooded in the morning. My next incident was coming off the slopes of cross fell after over nighting at Greg's Hut. That descent was horrid like you mentioned on your 2CD video. Thick mist and rain, I somehow fell down a hole to my waist & twisted my knee. Safe to say I was getting a bit peeved off & was seriously considering bailing to Penrith & getting the train home. Glad I didn't though, you get through these moments and challenges. I also understood what you went through taking the Cam road from Bainbridge to more or less Ribblehead. I had similar conditions to you & was pretty knackered. I found a great campsite above Ingleton, freshened up, ate some food & watched the sunset. I don't get the chance to go bike packing much but when I do, It totally energises me. Watching your videos has been very helpful to me, so thank you!! Keep pedalling & escaping to wild places.

top tip for you mate, from an old prepper, keep a spare folding alloy tent post inside your seat post, gaffer tape, and old inner tube. you can repair 80% of stuff with that :) chin up

First off: THANK YOU! So glad you're sharing. Second: thanks for not filling your videos with depression music. I love travel and biking content but life's sad enough already without spending hours listening to people crying and whining over slow acoustic guitar 🙌👌👊.... the really majestic moments work better with silence/ actual ambient sound from the place itself and people traveling through it anyway IMHO.

Josh. My good lady and l love watching your travels (whilst sat by the log burner😀). Your tenacity, grit and determination are exceptional. I have to say though this ride looked to nearly destroy you. You looked absolutely knackered. Get plenty of R&R and we look forward to your next adventure, which will hopefully be much kinder to you.

I've worked accross much of the N York Moors, Yorkshire area and some of the Dales over the last 14 years and often wondered about some of the cycle routes. Another Epic adventure Josh. I dont mind being out in the rain at all when cycling, but having to brave those elements when bike packing day after day is something else.
@lydiagould30908 ай бұрын
Great video, and looked so challenging with the wind and rain. The Dales are more scenic than the Yorkshire moors, having done the E.W.E (England -Wales-England) in 2012 and gone across both en route. I had to laugh when your tent pole broke, seeing as there were plenty of free ones on offer🤣Glad you managed to make use of one!

Wow! that was really brutal. You must have thought about what else the trip could throw your way. So wet and muddy but the winds were the icing on the cake. Well done for not bailing out. I wonder what reaction you get from other passengers on the train when you've plastered in mud. One of horror I'd guess.😃

Hi Josh, yours is one of the best youtube channels I'm following. Really great rides, and a good mixture of riding, camping, explaining... I love it how you plan your rides, the concept is always interesting, there's a story in it... All that said, I have to say - kudos to you and other British cyclists for riding in that weather! It really is a bit depressing watching all that mud and rain and gray landscape. ;) If only you were from... Turkey, for example! :))))

@KeepSmilingAdventures8 ай бұрын
Awesome hope you have some amazing adventures ahead of you. Apart from the obvious leave no trace, set up late and leave early. Don’t overthink it really, try get away from the trail so you wont get disturbed in the night. I like to sit around a bit before setting up the tent, that way you can get an idea of if people are around and where they typically go.

Thanks Josh, what an epic journey and you truly are resilience personified! Your videos are a fantastic inspiration and I keenly await upload notifications. The footage is amazing, your mix of narration and to-camera pieces are fantastic and the editing is top-notch. As a semi-professional copywriter though, I'd like to offer a small piece of constructive advice. Synonyms are your friend for the voice-over piece. While your narration clearly shows your passion and emotion, variety helps to keep the listener a little more engaged. For example @7.50 "...as them wet, boggy fields getting my feet wet..." could be "...as them sodden, boggy fields soaking my feet...". I know you've tried AI before from a previous video, but it actually can help a lot with this kind of thing - helping to add variation to what you've written, rather than having it create the script for you. Just my 2p, mate. The channel is awesome and a highlight of YT in my opinion.
