I have an EXe. It took me awhile to get the suspension setup properly. But, when I did, it’s magic and it far exceeded my expectations.

Interesting bike. I feel the range limitation keeps this from being a real contender in my book
@bikersedge7 ай бұрын
It’s certainly not for someone who wants to do big rides.
@IL3DSM7 ай бұрын
It would work great for a person who is looking for a small boost getting to the trail, but doesn't need huge assist going up tech climbs. For example in my case, I have to do a 250m ascent over 5km on pavement to get the the trailhead - it's an extremely boring climb on the road. If I can get boosted on this climb to where I'd actually want to pedal - e.g to the trailhead I'd happily get a bike that can give me that while keeping low weight.
@bikersedge7 ай бұрын
@@IL3DSM problem is, your battery would be half gone by the time you got to the trailhead. Doesn’t leave much for the actual ride.
@IL3DSM7 ай бұрын
@@bikersedge Yeah it's not for everyone, but it would work for me - I don't mind a technical climb under my own power but only if 1. The bike pedals reasonably well (so it has to be around my current bikes weight of 36lbs fully loaded, can round it to 40lbs to be generous). 2. It's not egregiously expensive compared to an 'acoustic' offering Exercise is a big part of biking for me though - I also ride road and gravel for the sake of endurance, so this isn't going to work for people who want to coast to the top of the mountain in order to get more laps in. Hopefully in 5 years or so the tech will plateau and mature a bit and prices for ebikes go down a bit so I can justify spending a bit more on this type of purchase. For the time being though I'll just accept spending 25 minutes going up the mountain on pavement with the sentinel, as opposed to 10 minutes that it could be.

It would be great if you could compare Unno Ikki with Mondraker Neat; on the paper these two bikes match each other pretty good. You didn't comment on the noise level of TQ motor; is it the most quiet e-bike you've ever ridden so far?

I did comment on it. Said it’s very quiet. I think it’s probably the quietest. Haven’t ridden an EP8 RS or Fazua for a minute though.

The Ikki seems pretty comparable to the Specialized Kenevo SL. Might be a bit quieter than the SL but the weight, power and travel seem comparable.

Nice review. Is battery easily removable? If it is, budget for two and just swap mid-ride if your loop gets close to your parked car. You get the range without having to carry the extra weight. It is less convenient and won't work on longer / epic type rides.

It’s an integrated battery so you’re not swapping it without tearing the bike down.

@bikersedge7 ай бұрын
Ask yourself three questions. Do your prioritize “normal” DH handling over having to put in more effort on the climbs? Do you do big rides frequently or just shorter 1-2 hour rides. What type of e-bikes do your friends have.
@chrisallen52937 ай бұрын
Maybe I need one of each. 😃

I'm 66 and developed some hip issues that I'm trying to rehab. I purchased a Specialized Kenevo as my first e-mtb mainly because of range anxiety and thinking I needed a long travel bike. I tend to use only the two lowest power settings and rarely use turbo. I've never come close to depleting the battery (most of my rides range from around 12 to 30 miles). Although the Kenevo is a great bike, I find it too heavy and can only describe it as cumbersome (I prefer flowy trails with some technical versus solely technical downhill rides). I'm in the process of selling it and will buy something with much lighter weight and smaller battery. If needed, I'll purchase a range extender.
@romand1236 ай бұрын
I started with a full powered Specialized Levo for a year and then went to a Kenevo SL because they were on sale and I wanted to see how much of a difference there was between the two. I ended keeping BOTH! The full power Levo is like a bull dog that you have to struggle with but the power and range is really nice for my steep trail network. The Kenevo feels like a normal enduro bike with a little help on the climbs. I’m 200lbs. I get about 2000k before I need to recharge the battery. It’s kind of a toss up!

The unno IKKI factory look like nice anf if i compare with santa cruz hekler sl XX carbon cc the price is more or less the same .... but i dont know ..... maybe wait 1 or 2 years i think there be other new model ... iIf you can compare ECO mode on shimano and ECO on TQ or fasua , do you thing its relativlly the same ? or need to use more power on the legs ? in average , on my canyon i use 14% of power ( and onnly use eco ) do you thing this kind of bike can be helpufull enought ( since my surgery , i do sport every day / cardio / ect .. ) i think yes but i never tried this kind of new motor ( i live on far small town in france lol its very difficult to buy a thing lol ) and i am not heavy rider ( 60-62 Kg) well thax again and sorry for the long .

Confusing review. To paraphrase, "It is good, it is bad; it is good, it is bad; it is good, it is bad" .. Seems to me, it is an MTB, with a silent assist to get more laps; on this bike you go up the climbing trial, not the fire trail; then smash down without compromise. Perfect !

I mean most bikes have good and bad parts. To sum it up this one prioritizes DH handling at the expense of range and power.
