@@BikesandBeards I agree, since I find a manual gearbox more engaging to drive and certainly more fun on twisty roads. That said, in the North American market fewer than 6% of new cars are sold with a manual, so they probably figured there wouldn't be much clientele for them. On the other hand the Ford Focus ST and RS were only offered with a 6-speed and they sold quite well (I know I wouldn't trade in my RS).

Every time I see a Vanderhall video I feel bad for you Flatlanders. I need to make my own video here in my Vandy Venice on the SoCal canyon & mountain roads. If you think this is fun on your flat roads then you'd really have a blast out here. And for all of you commenting here about what's the point or why not just get a good bike, all I can say is you don't know what you're missing until you try it. I've ridden motorcycles all my life (about 40 years) and this is a totally different experience -- in a really good way. It's like driving a go-kart on the highway & at 80mph you feel like you're going 150, since you're so low to the ground. It's got the openness of a bike and being so low that you can literally reach out and touch the road, you feel a rush of speed that you just don't feel the same way when sitting up on the seat of a motorcycle. Bottom line -- try it before you close your mind to it. And watch for my canyon-carving video -- coming up soon, I hope!
@plumbusman4 жыл бұрын
the "so low to the ground" is awesome, but it's also a bit nerve-wracking, I'd think. I saw a guy driving one here in north-side of chicago during rush-hour. 4 lane major traffic route. He was in the right lane, i was in on my bike in the left. Van in front/next to the Vandy. Stop and go traffic; but the van stopped creeping up, and let a car turn left across him. Vandy almost got CRUSHED, because there was absolutely no way the turning car saw him, or he seeing the car. What type of precautions can you take? At least a motorcycle you have a lot more maneuvering room, and your head is sometimes as high/higer than a car in front of you.
@2000ReRyRo4 жыл бұрын
@Ross Kutzler I wouldn't deny that the Vanderhall can have a big problem with visibility, as in being seen by others. But there are pros & cons when being compared with motorcycles -- it may not have the agility or maneuverability of a bike but in those cases where a biker might be thrown off, or go sliding down the asphalt, the Vandy's seatbelts and rollbars could very well keep its driver living for another ride the next day. So, is it safer than a bike? In some cases, yes. Can it scramble out of a dicey situation as well as a bike? Not by a long shot. But here's how I handle that -- I tend to stay off freeways (expressways/interstates, depending on your geography), keep a close eye on tall vehicles, and sometimes take comfort in the seatbelt and rollbars -- all while knowing that there's no fun without some risk. But I love that go-kart feeling...

Josh Sedgwick. The initial ones used a Packard substitute for the Merlin. The Bs in 1942+ used the Merlin or the Packard copy. Both the P40 and P51 were primarily designed for the RAF for sale. They both used browning machine guns instead of cannon. *Since he is talking sound, then the 51 and the later Mark Spitfires did sound alike on their 12s* . They overall looked very much alike, not using radial engines with NACA cowls. Much more alike than a Mk1 spitfire and a P40, also made primarily for RAF sale. One was an interceptor and the other a long range bomber escort, so they had different purposes, but were more alike than any two planes from different countries in WWII. It is a borrowed and adapted design on both sides to serve the multiple needs of one air force.
@MrJshsedgwick5 жыл бұрын
@@STho205 they may have looked alike with the cowling and had the same engine and even guns but they are still two different airplanes made by two different manufacturers. Cockpit different, internals different. Different airplane. You can argue similarities till you turn blue in the face, the fact remains they are very different airplanes.

I've been following the Elio saga for a while out of curiosity. You have to wonder who it's marketed to. It's not a performance vehicle so the moto crowd is out. The virtue-signalers are already in electric vehicles. Those for whom money is a concern (gas prices, cost of cars) are likely limited to a single vehicle and would need something with a bit more versatility as far as cargo and passengers. It would seem more suited to European countries with their narrow roads, high gas prices, and steep taxes on vehicles that are based on price, size and fuel economy. That, and the MPG rating and price might as well be infinite, since there's been no EPA testing or production-ready model. People should have known better than to put down a deposit on a vehicle from a new company with no operational manufacturing, no sales network, nothing to back up price or performance claims, and a delivery date promise that's been pushed back multiple times.

More important reason to make this a FWD is that on a trike, CG needs to be at the geometric center of the triangle between the wheels or roughly where the knees of the driver is in this case. It is difficult tomake a reversed trike, with two front wheels without getting extreme oversteer, as usually occupants sits too close to the single rearwheel. I love your videos guys. It is so refreshing to see a great group of people that love Jesus and have created a Business around what they love while being genuine and not afraid to express their beliefs. Keep it up. I will be praying for you guys and hopefully one day I could meet you guys.

That is super unique! Cool! And an edit, that's the only 3 wheeler I'd buy. I don't like the others, this is more like a restomod... I'd just want a manual.

FYI; a P-51 would be a Mustang, not a Spitfire... Spitfires were in the RAF

I don't know about this vehicle for sure but as far as the tune getting 70 hp plus with out upping the boost and adjusting the timming I'm not sure and few other things make me think he's wrong,but as always I'd love to be educated,if for nothing else than to just learn more. Love your vids and keep up the awesome work

You actually can get that much power the 1.4 ecotec engine is tuned for good mpg and sacrifices alot of power for fuel efficiency ... my dad can get 45-50 mpg in his Cruze easily and there are plenty of tuning companies advertising 60-80 + hp tunes for them
@Johnny-tq9no5 жыл бұрын
It also appears they added an intercooler as a Cruze doesn't have one stock

BNR tune takes the boost from around 10-12 psi up to 22-23psi. Ignition timing, fuel, cam phasing, all reworked.

I think it's a nifty little three wheeler. Zippy as all get out. But the owner. . . I'm glad he likes his ride. I understand he's proud of it. But I've met people like that and before you know it you're under the car (it's a car) and he's explaining how he went to magnesium nuts to save an entire pound off the vehicle weight and the thread pitch is special and had to be made specifically for this application and if you look here you can see the rounded screws used for better aerodynamics. . . and you're ready to eat a bullet or huff the exhaust to make it stop because it's been four hours and you don't think he's even taken a breath.

The no manual transmission option doesn't make sense. A FWD manual setup doesn't need a "hump" for anything. You can have a cable shifted manual transmission with a shift box that takes up VERY little room in the cockpit. Take a look at how Honda does them in their K series cars.

blurring the lines between what defines a car and a motorcycle... this is the best example I've seen of both combined together effectively! -p3t3r

They should have used the 2zz-ge Toyota motor which is used in the Celica GTS, Lotus Elise, and Matrix XRS. Its only 253lbs and even stock it revs to 8600rpm with 190hp/169ftlbs. Paired with the 6 speed manual transmission it is less than 307lbs - combine that with a small turbo and it would be a more powerful, lighter, higher revving engine than the motor they provide. I think its a missed opportunity by Vanderhall.

The air coming into the cabin blew my beard up into my face. In PA no helmet is required.

I went to check one of those out at Pocono Harley. My shoulders are so Wide that my right shoulder was almost in the middle of the passenger seat lol.

That thing is nice. I think since it’s Front Wheel Drive, if they just put a Axle in the back it would be a cool little Sports Car. I’m just not really a Fan of the single Wheel in the back. It is cool though if your ok with a single Tire in the back. Great Video as always Sean. 👍👍

Slingshot has few issues but I’d take any day over that as when I sit in my seat it’s my seat not half the other person. When I punch the gas if I have traction I’m gone.(tons faster than that thing). Plus the fact that to look at my 2.4 all I do is find the latch and pull up the hood, not find a screw driver and loose screws.

18:16. A "P-51 Spitfire"????? Two different planes buddy. I'd love to own one of these in a 4 wheel version. 3 wheelers just look too goofy.

I'm glad the owner enjoys his vanderhall. But this thing is weak sauce for me. Sean made the right choice with the Ariel atom. A real performance vehicle.
@justdoinit23783 жыл бұрын
This is super cool and does 0-60 in 4.5 before the tune. I’m sure since he got the tune it’s much quicker than that n it’s very very affordable. The atom is definitely insane but I could definitely get down with this.

Where can i find a stereo like that? Just a bluetooth module. Almost everything's run off the phone these days so don't see the need for a radio and stuff like that.

Seen these at Battlefield H-D! Awesome! Hey, what are you using to record this? I tend to record off my iPhone, in its holder, while riding! Lately, I’m hole ring and wind noise is awful. I tried a plug in mic and unintelligible results. (run up to my Harley headset mic. ). Heading to Sturgis, and I am attempting Bun burner Gold on my way out, would love to let people know I’m OK as I’m on my way. Thoughts? Thanks.
