Why not attach the straps lower on the shock assembly, so the shock is not involved at all when the truck hits a bump? That way you avoid the shock taking damage, while the strap should be strong enough to keep the bike pinned down, and the front tire does any flexing that is needed.
@BikesBoatsBivouacs3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice.
@jimthompson7172 жыл бұрын
It could slide down if not over the triple clamp.
@collinmc902 жыл бұрын
I just did this with my bike, it is SO much more secure. every bump you hit if you compress the suspension, will cause the strap to go loose for a second till the suspension can re compress. If you go off the lower part of the forks (if you can on your bike) makes it so much more rigid. I literally stood on my bike and leaned waaaaay over hopped up and down and that thing didn't move a bit!
@ZeezaAndNomadicJack Жыл бұрын
By compressing the struts, you are limiting the range of travel for the motorcycle. There’s hardly any chance that the motorcycle is going to compress any more than that even on a trailer unless you’re like off-roading while you’re towing it lol hope you find that helpful.

Why not just hook the strap hook into the square of the trailer? If you loop the strap around it, the strap on the metal is more likely to cut through the strap than the hook is to come undone.
@BikesBoatsBivouacs5 жыл бұрын
That would work.
@georgebanker26694 жыл бұрын
If you get the tiniest bit of compression on the bike the hook can come off the metal and the bike is then able to fall over.

Only thing I see wrong is not hooking the hooks to the trailer! Looping the strap through tie down to its self creates a rub point on the strap and it can bust on ya!

Good narration, but I need to see what you’re doing and your hands were in front of the spot you were working on a few times.

Never compress your suspension! Those straps should be on on your forks

I have to say I don't agree with this at all. Move your straps down to the union of the front fender at the lower shock. You don't want pressure on your shocks. You want unsprung weight on those straps. Same on the rear. Go through the lower frame so the bike doesn't have any sprung weight on the straps.

Several had mentioned this although I never had an issue. Thanks for watching.

Everything was good until you used the luggage rack as a strap point.....always use the bike frame, not accessories like a luggage rack.

Thanks. On my bigger bikes I strap around the tire.

I think everything looked great. The secondary rack strap is no different than throwing a trap over the saddle. Just a little extra stability.

Why such hate for Harley owners? All riders need help with towing. Do you own a scooter, or are you that insecure?

Can you just use the crash bar instead? If you don't wanna put strain on your forks?
