I've owned one over a year and adv ridden it on multi month trips across the TET, from Wales to Albania. Its not perfect. I needed to update tge ECU to get smooth initial throttle from the EFI. The saddles a bit hard and narrow. Otherwise, its an absolutely amazing bike, and completely reliable so far (no cam wear..) I own other bikes, but for real off tarmac adv riding its hard to beat.

I'm loving these Chinese motorbikes, decent bikes at an affordable price. I wouldn't have any problems owning one, the big name manufacturers are pricing themselves out of the market. Awesome video as always.
@Liberty4EverАй бұрын
For decades we begged for a lightweight off road oriented ADV bike with enough power to comfortably cruise on highways and the Big Moto cartel laughed in our faces and told us to buy their bloated and expensive mid and full size ADV bikes. Finally, Kove offered the 450 Rally. It wasn't the off road ADV bike we wanted but in many ways was better than modifying a dual sport. Then CF Moto provided their 450 Ibex and that was a bit closer. These Chinese manufacturers were getting all of the online love and attention, and Big Moto started losing market share. Now, after decades of ignoring customers, Big Moto is finally forced to compete with the Aprilia Toureg 457, BMW F450GS....

I have one myself and don't agree on everything... They're not loud ALL THE TIME, only at wide open throttle the induction noise is loud. On the motorways, doing 4-5k rpm it's quiet, buzz free and also economical :) I love it!

Chris, I have one - and it's awesome! The CST (OEM) tyres are good and long lasting but lacking in sand, not so the CST EX02's - which are way more agressive, sand becomes playing. Get a CATless pipe and the better ECU, you'll take that snorking then for granted lol. The suspension is a bit too hard for average use but click them back, then it becomes superbly suspended.

I got to test ride this the other day. Very aggressive and raw bike, definitely not for any kind of low/pacing-speed offroad tracks or long pavement breaks (god forbid of any notion of commuting on this, the service intervals are vicious), and the noise..good god. But the fact that there is such a bike at such price available...kudos to kove!

@connor3288 no but i ve ridden a 701 husky and it was more tolerable. The 450 sound is more high pitched if i can describe it correctly.. closer to the annoying sawed off exhausts some kids put on their 125cc bikes, the kind that gets the neighborhood cursing!

I don't know if the Chinese manufacturers are getting any better, but the problem is when you buy second hand bikes after 3 or 4 years. In my experience, as soon as they replace or revamp a model, they instantly stop supplying parts for the old one. It's like they expect you to throw them away after 4 years of use. And, after buying a used Chinese bike, most parts are in dire need of replacing after 4 years!! So I expect them to be great for journalists who experience new bikes for a few months... now do a long term test on a 3 year old model.....
@davejenvey3598Ай бұрын
No1 makes an everlasting light bulb, but they could.
@bricketts656Ай бұрын
that's very true for most Chinese manufacturers in the past, but the thing about Kove is that it's their intention to change that way of thinking. They are a motorcycle company that is run by motorcycle enthusiast and not just a Chinese company throwing together cheap motorcycles just for quick money. Their intention is to be a real motorcycle company in it for the long haul. Whether that works out in the long run has yet to be seen, but that's what they're trying to do. And they understand the customer service and parts availability is a key factor in being a successful motorcycle company. and they have a lot of input from the US importer, who is very passionate about motorcycles.

There's already a lot of comprehensive reviews, what's got to change is the thinking that everything coming out of China is short term garbage, it's just ignorant internet rubbish. Many Honda, Yamaha, and other Japanese OEM engines have been manufactured in China for decades. The Chinese knockoff bikes using Honda style engines weren't cloned from someone buying the Japanese engines. They just used the same tooling Honda was using to make their own, even GM have engines made in China.....

Definitely a sweet bike. It's a little bit disappointing how short the intervals are. Hopefully, we'll find out they can be stretched through a wide enough sample size just like with the 500exc. I think for the time being, the 690/701 still wins as the lightweight adventure bike. The only downside is they're expensive and there's still a lot more mods to give it a tower and all that.
@fozzy1717Ай бұрын

@Michael_Shay people are doing 3000 miles on them, the engine isn't in a high state of tune
@Michael_ShayАй бұрын
@fozzy1717 I've seen people do it. Again, it's about sample size. I need to see a large enough group of people doing it successfully. There's not even that many people that have put more than 5k miles on them. Less than 10 stretching over 3k just isn't enough yet. I hope it's possible, I think it's a sweet machine. But it's healthy to be skeptical when it comes to stretching manufacturer intervals.
@fozzy1717Ай бұрын

@andybeetson9117Ай бұрын
Probably only if you're racing it,for trailriding and given the fact it's Chinese I'd probably do the first check and see if much has changed, then base it on a sensible interval. Going forwards it will be interesting ( as most UK riders are chinaphobes!) to see how reliable it is after 3 or 4 years .
@Weltbummler23Ай бұрын
@@andybeetson9117 Thats partially correct. 600 mile oil changes are the racing intervals, and regular use is 1200miles (2000km). However racing use is 15 hour valve checks and 30 hours for regular use. Check the US service manual, its all clearly stated there.

@darko_lengkeek-jakupovic26 күн бұрын
Much stiffer suspension, derestricted engine with a different ecu map (putting out about 55 horsepower I think), full titanium exhaust system (though in europe we have another option for an exhaust now). In Europe the pro version has a different airbox / filter, due to regulations the filter on the standard model is really restrictive and looks very different to the American and Asian standard filters. The Pro version has a rally tower for a road book. Putting it up against a 450RFR or 690 is not really fair. The Kove was designed as a rally bike, not a dirt bike, and with most of the power in mid to high rpm's. Besides that, comparing it to a 690 engine-wise is also not really fair. The 690 has a way bigger engine.
@rickybobby766025 күн бұрын
@ it kind of is. The full fat rally version is priced the same as a 10 year old 450RFR and a 690 with the rally kit and designed to be a direct competitor so it stands to reason they you’d put it up against the competition especially for anyone looking to actually do rally’s on them rather than bimble around the TET or ACT. There’s no other new turn-key rally bikes available for less than £25k and testing it in isolation isn’t much use if you’ve got £13/14k to spend on a bike to do Hellas or Dinaric etc

50hp surprised me. Sounds alot slower.

How much hp u expect from 450 single?
@jonasjohansson9060Ай бұрын
@@TrackandshieldDid not expect that. 50 is very good for a road legal 450.

And it's restricted too. Especially in europe, it's restricted to 38-42 hp. Derestrict it, remap the ecu and put a full exhaust (if in europe, buy the pro airbox/filter) and you've got 55 hp

sounds underpowered, almost like it's about to stall. Desperately needs gearing adjustments for this sort of adventures.

Is 55bhp and 145kg is underpowered? Try riding one 👍

@@OverlandTheSlowWay Huh, too many keyboard know-it-alls in this comment section. I’ll bet many of the euro-bikes of this type are manufactured using Chinese-produced machine-tools though. Glad to hear your machine is doing well. This bike is well beyond what I’m willing to spend or skilled-enough to use, so I’ll keep to my 125 and 225 bikes, and not talk about bikes I know nothing about! When I passed my bike test (1963..) people wrote rubbish about the Japanese machines. Now many clamour for those same old Hondas, Suzukis, Yamahas because they were wonderful machines. Maybe… just maybe, they’ll be crying out for Koves in 50 years time. Ride safe mate.

It's on road gearing first mod is drip the front sprocket one and go up two on rear , it's a happy medium , transforms the bike and it will still cruise at 60 mph if you leave the front sprocket you can do 70 80 mph all day , find that gearing that suits you
