Biking the South Minneapolis Bicycle Loop (from MLK Park) | Minneapolis, MN | 4K

Minneapolis consistently ranks high on lists of US cities when it comes to bike infrastructure. Recently, the city has set up group rides on the South Minneapolis Bike Loop and I wanted to show the loop.
I start and end at Martin Luther King Jr park and the 40th street pedestrian bridge in South Minneapolis. The south loop is Blaisdell Ave S to Midtown Greenway, to Bryant Ave, and along 40th St W.
Enjoy the ride and let me know what you think! Hopefully the camera isn’t too shaky for you. I used the gear that I typically use for walking, because I do not own gear that is specifically for rides.

Thank you so much for a cycling video! Although your walking-around videos are invaluable when it comes to getting a sense for downtown, northloop, and other nearby neighborhoods, this biking video alone showcases so much new bike infrastructure that isnt even on Google Maps yet. Bryant's cycling track looks simply world-class, and is miles ahead of most similarly-sized cities in America. Furthermore, its nice to just see a video documenting the quieter parts of the city and quotidienne life. I can definitely imagine myself living car-free or car-lite in Minneapolis. Thank you!

My pleasure! I’m so excited for all the hype that Bryant has been getting. That street is fantastic. The other streets (w 40th and blaisdell) both are great in my book too. Protected lanes, a place for cars, a place for walkers, and fantastic tree coverage! It’s so easy to drop a few car trips and exchange them for a bike (or bus) ride here and there in MPLS

@@walkingminnesota It's called "Widower, 48, Seeks Husband", by Raymond Luczak. It takes place between the 1980s and early 2000s, in the neighborhood south and west of Loring Park, near Sebastian Joe's Ice Cream and the Wedge Food Coop.

Great video. Very cool to see "dedicated" bike lanes in neighborhoods with a small median barrier (not just painted lines). A number of the alternative transportation groups here in Omaha have been advocating for a similar setup, but we're not there yet. I've been enjoying your channel. Minneapolis/St. Paul is one of our favorite destinations (we were just in St. Paul in March for the NCHC Frozen Faceoff). 👍

Assuming you're using a GoPro type of camera, there's some pretty cheap chest mounts online that would work well for these types of videos

Thanks for the idea! I use my phone and a gimbal that works pretty well when handheld. I bought a mount that I use for the gimbal on my bike but it struggles with bumps (hence why i am riding so slow) I’m not sure if I am going to do enough bike stuff to justify buying a GoPro yet but I’ve seen pretty good results with those and cheap mounts
