It was reported Masai Ujiri went over to see Wembenyama play during the season. But realistically this is who he went to see play. Yes Vic is hard not to see when he’s on the court but Ujiri knew the reality of where Toronto would pick possibly. This is who he had his eye on. Bilal is a player that has size, vision, unselfish skill set, length, speed/quickness, and an underrated offensive package. If it wasn’t for Vic he’d be averaging easily 24 a game. He’s a gem in this draft. From a few sources Toronto would like to trade up and get into the 3-4 range while keeping 13. It’s not impossible but it’s not an easy task either. Ideally move Siakim and OG is both the idea. Create draft capital and give Scottie the keys to future. But a trade with Portland could open it up heavily by moving Siakim. And possibly moving OG to a potential suitor like a Dallas or New Orleans. The ideal draft scenario. Scoot at 3, Bilal at 13. Fred option is declined or S/T for a player(s) and future 1st. Gary’s option is declined as well. Build your future around Scoot, Scottie, and Bilal. Get some shooting and the right coach and the sky is the limit from there.
