One more important thing to be noted in both DPC and Plinth Beam is that brick laying should not be started the very next day and at a least after 7 days so that the concrete acquire its strenght to bear the load of walls otherwise cracks in concrete will develop and the pupose of controlling the dampness will be ruined.

*Look at the walls of the adjacent house at **0:33**. That house must have a dpc or plinth beam. I don't think there is any way possible to stop this moisture control in the walls.*

Stone foundation is better than bricks foundation.because bricks when comes in contact with surrounding soil it contains water which ultimately gives rise to dampness..and also check out your columns, your columns are starting from plinth beam, which should be from the base of foundation.

pro gcc My friend you are doing good job 👏 Just I want to add few more tips 1- concrete should be proper consolidated as in this video we can see plinth beams having too much segregation in concrete in this way dampness can’t be stopped 2- when concrete achieve strength better apply bitumen coat and after laid polyethylene sheet for better result 3- big mistake masons doing during floor preparation is floor level they made up from DPC that’s why when we use water for cleaning the floor dampness also affect to walls

He is not doing good job at all DPC is a plastic kinda material which should be use above final ground level atleast 9" above final ground level.

Before laying the foundation concrete you should have a layer of pvc sheet to keep the ground water from penetrating the foundation. Thereafter you can again install another sheet of pvc sheet about 6 inches above finished ground level. Concrete beam/plinth built on bare ground will always give dampness. Consult building codes of Europe for guidance. I am a Chartered Engineer in the UK so I know what I am talking about.

SajB: thank you for your suggestion. Also let us know, if we add pvc sheet before foundation work, is it possible tht structure will not form good adhesion to ground as there will be no soil to bricks contact initially?

Plinth beam is not required everywhere.. it depends on soil level test. If foundations are too deep then plinth beam is must.. also its costly , not everyone can afford...

Plinth beam is unessential its depends upon foundation depth & soil bearing capacity ..only 2" DPC wll be sufficient And plinth beam cost too much. 🎉 & this DPC needs to cover with bituminous coat + polythein plast sheet, in order to prevent dampness upwards I am also Civil Engineer. Thnx 🎉🎉🎉

Mr concrete plinth beam is not called DAMP COURSE. Damp course is a black thin layer used in Europe about concrete foundations. If people in Pakistan use very thick black polythene sheet available here in England we use on very base on earth level before starting and seal up properly then use fine stone layer on top of the polythene and must make sure polyurethane should be damaged. And overlapping of polyurethane definitely helps more. Then damp course on top of concrete plynth or beam and then brick work on to of damp course. Of course u allow some time concrete to dry. and brick work on top of damp course and not on top of concrete plynth or beam

I personally think using 9 inch beam adds an extra expense to building and don't add any structural stability, I would rather hire a good engineer who can analyse soil and guide me on depth of foundation. Only my point of view.
