Before fronting the 1970's pop music group, Starland Vocal Band with Margot Chapman and Jon Carroll, Bill and Taffy Danoff had a hand in writing(they'd already written Country Roads prior to meeting John Denver) and then co-writing (a new 2nd verse) one of John Denver's biggest hits, Take Me Home Country Roads.

I prefer hearing the songwriter's rendition of their own songs, wish they'd recorded this for an album.
Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert and John Denver
Bill and Taffy were close friends and associates of Denver's and provided backup vocals on his early albums as well as writing or co-writing songs with John that he recorded over the years.
Bill and Taffy Danoff started in the mid sixties as Fat City, then recorded as Bill and Taffy in the early 1970's, and then fronted Starland Vocal Band from the mid 1970's to early 1980's.
