Reefed Beats is an excellent book. I recommend it to all tenor/quads/quints(whatever your reference is) players. I can say it has definitely helped me out and it can help you too.
@whaaasuupmyhomies12 жыл бұрын
@luck1214 You hit on the edges of the heads closest to you. Technically 1 to 2 inches from the rim. Think that if you were to turn your drum heads so the logo were on the sides closest to you, you'd be playing on that. This is not only for quality in sound, but also for efficiency in arm placement.
@zSlayer0511 жыл бұрын
Quads is used for all configurations of tenor drums because there are four main tonal drums. Spocks are accent drums. Read quad logic. Bill Bachman agrees.

Notice how much sound you get with mallets? I understand why sticks are used sometimes, but for them to become not only the primary implement, but the only one . . . just don't get it.

@thewease47 Get a Stockpad and play on ONE drum mostly. And get a lot of sheet music that's your level and learn it. You'll get faster at learning music and playing with good sound quality. When you play on the drums, it should feel the same as it did when you played on ONE drum. Everything in this video is explained very clearly, so it shouldn't confuse you.

I use the scrapes (I know them as Swipes) on drum kit between toms & snare & vice versa. Thanks Bill you've given me some more ideas to work on to apply it to my kit. I can mix them between toms, snare & Bass Drum doubles in a 6 note grouping or Sextuplets, which sound real cool.

I play French horn in band and just moved to a new state, I have always wanted to play quad but when I told my band teacher she gave me a weird look then said "Oh you mean tenor" and I'm just standing there confused. Can anyone tell me the difference between the tenor and quad, because where I lived before we said quad and people down here have no clue what a quad is. Also she is forcing me to stay on French horn so I'm watching videos because I want to learn the quad, also great video!

"well actually ive given up trying to convince people the correct way to name tenor drums." Right there you talk about convincing people that the correct name for tenors with 5 drums is quints. "u can reply back to me after u find another name for tenors." Quads. It applies to all tenor drums, no matter what the number of drums. People can call them whatever they want. If you don't like seeing that I suggest not making a hissy fit on youtube.
