Parcells had led Belichick on many times saying he would be resigning and Belichick would have the coaching job. Not until Bill decided to go to New England, did Parcells resign so Belichick would become head coach, but I think Belichick knew as long as Parcells was still GM of the Jets Parcells would be monkeying in his business - so he left. Plus he trusted Kraft, and knew that the owner relationship was key.

As a lifelong fan whose love (hate?) affair started during the Sack Exchange era, I have nothing but mad respect for both Joe and Bill. For a long time, I hated that the Jets chose Ken O'Brien over Dan Marino, but that has long since faded. What kills me the most is that Bill was OUR coach - for 24 hours. Just imagine if he would have stayed with the Jets! OMG. I would sell one of my kidneys to go back in time and make that happen! I hate the Pats, but... I respect them. Especially Bill. He's definitely the greatest coach of all time. And I think Joe is the greatest Jets fan of all time, (with all due respect to Fireman Ed).

Bill B cares about one thing: building and maintaining a machine to win SuperBowls. Having Brady and Josh McDaniels there has allowed him to focus personally this year on the defense. If the level of Pats defensive play continues, NE could reach the Super Bowl with an average QB and win it with an above average QB - this year. Now an interesting twist would be for SF and NE to swap QBs. It would never happen: JG is way overpaid. But it would be interesting.

As a Pats fan & a major sports fan in general, all i have to say is Thank GOD Belichick chose the Patriots over the Jets. To think of the miserable 20 yrs prior to Belichick & then the thought of the last 20 yrs of success being the Jets?? I mean if it wasn't for the Boston/New York 'all sports' rivalry, i would feel bad for you guys (but u know i can't do that). So instead i count my blessings cause I know that it's slowly coming to an end
@feedthefatrabbit10734 жыл бұрын
Respect you as a Jets fan. I tip my cap to BB. He's the secret sauce to the sustained greatness. Makes it all flow. Without him, Brady is still a HOF, but he isn't the GOAT. Were you a fan of the Pats back when they were a laughing stock? That's a long time ago now. Almost a different era.
@feeling_wicked4 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, around here you're born into it (it's generational) for all major sports. I'm 45 now (Wtf?) so i went through the 2-14 (two) & 1-15 years. So you have 2 types of New England fans, my generation that's more humbled by the last 20 yrs cause we went thru the 20 yrs prior, & then everyone 26 & under, they're more like 'Ahh, we're the best' cause their whole lives Boston sports has been winning a lot. In any case, u guys need to get rid of Gase (he's a charlatan) cause he will ruin Darnold (it's already happening) IMO Mike McCarthy would've been great for Darnold but hey good luck w/ everything

I give nothing but respect to the old guard of Pats fans, you all suffered for a long time but all the newbies are nothing but fair-weather fans and will disappear once Bill and Tom are gone
@VonAllenSports4 жыл бұрын
Problem with the theory that if Bill can do well after Brady, it somehow proves something isn't really that good of an argument. Because of the 18 year Dynasty built by both Bill and Brady, Belichick has a tight nit organization and ultimate control to implement whatever he wants. Due to Brady, Bill has an advantage. It works both ways. If Tom went to a new team and did well, Bill can still be credited because Tom carried all of that success with him. What they accomplished together can't be removed from one another no matter what.

Evan wants to know what could've been? Chances are Belichick would've been fired 3 years into his Jets tenure and moved onto another team most likely as a coordinator. Yeah the Pats dynasty would've never happened but that dynasty has a lot more to do with Mo Lewis than Bill Belichick considering Bill was on his way to getting fired after 2001 if Bledsoe never went down.
@Grandizer89894 жыл бұрын
NothingToPointOut24 Belechik benched Kosar in Cleveland much to the fans dismay and wouldn’t have hesitated to do the same to Bledsoe
@NothingToPointOut244 жыл бұрын
@@Grandizer8989 Kosar was also benched for Testaverde, a former 1st overall pick who was signed as a FA. Maybe Belichick would've benched Bledsoe eventually in 01, but IDK if he would've gotten away with that to start a 6th round pick. He was forced to start Brady when Bledsoe went down. It just happened to be the best thing that could've ever happened to him. In the almost 20 years since he has developed into one of the best, if not the best coach of alltime, but thats only because the best QB of alltime fell into his lap.
@NothingToPointOut244 жыл бұрын
@Vincent Cuttolo We're getting off track here. Fact remains, Bledsoe doesnt go down, Belichick gets canned in NE, just like he would've gotten canned in New York by 2003 at the latest.
@NothingToPointOut244 жыл бұрын
@Vincent Cuttolo Well what in the last 20 years has told you differently? Lol. Belichick couldn't turn QB's much more seasoned than Brady into studs, but gets credit for developing him into a HOF QB in his like 20th season in the NFL? Get real. The guy is a defensive "genius" but is the reason Brady went 10 full seasons without a title despite great production, a weak divison and a 1st round bye every season. Brady should have like another 5 titles and the reason he doesnt is directly on Bill.
@NothingToPointOut244 жыл бұрын
@Vincent Cuttolo Cassel went 11-5 on a team that Brady would've probably went 16-0 with again, or atleast another 3 or 4 wins that year. Just saying that if Bill is such a reason why Brady is the way he is, how come he didnt do it before him with QB's with better track records
