Bill Browder, Founder and CEO of Hermitage Capital Management and author of the bestseller Red Notice: A True Story of High Finance, Murder, and One Man’s Fight for Justice, will discuss his new book, Freezing Order (April 2022) with Ray Suarez, host of World Affairs on KQED 88.5 FM. Browder’s new book chronicles his work exposing the vast Russian money laundering scheme that made him Putin’s number one enemy and prompted Russia’s intervention in the 2016 US presidential election. Presented as part of the McCloskey Speaker Series.

Just finished reading Freezing Order. Fantastic bone-chilling story about a system which is absolute evil in its purest form. Thank you for this eye-opener Bill. Greetings from Denmark.

Thank you Bill! I watched your show from beginning to the end. I appreciate your contribution from your heart and energy for the world. People need to know the truth. I can imagine the corrupted people are still alive! They steal so much money from people just like they suck the blood from hard working of their own people. With all that money they have been stolen can put it back to invest and do good thing for their country so they can get out from the hardships and be able living comfortable and happy. I appreciate your hard work and sacrifice your own safety for us! Keep up the good work! We love you.

I read his book freezing order. It's truly a fascinating book and was definitely hooked onto it. Browder is determined to have the Magnitsky Act passed in the EU and United States so that Putin and the oligarchs cannot continue to enrich themselves through illegal means. His pursuit for justice and stand up to the corruption in Russia blew my mind. My favorite part of the book is where he was in a deposition and he screwed around with the senior partner of BakerHosteler. He took his time to waste their 7 hours so the lawyer would have any useful information that could endanger him, his family, and team.

Absolutely fascinating book. It's really opened my eyes to Russia how scary it is. This man is so brave. We in S.A. have been captured and they need to apply that act here as there has been much money laundering but no political will to do anything. One of the companies involved is Bain a global company based in Boston. They were banned today in UK but they are still operating in S.A. with no prosecution imminent. What a sick world.

Thank you for this interesting interview. I cannot imagine Russia becoming a normal state because of the widespread corruption. You did an incredible job. Unfortunately we observe that the Russians didn't support Navalny and didn't seem very concerned by Putin's aggression against Russia.

I'm reading the preamble to your current book, " Red Notice ". Enjoying it and it will allow me to understand the bigger picture. I'm even underlining the names of the oligarchs you mentioned and attempting to identify them in current events.

When the mongol hordes subjugated large parts of Russian Territory centuries ago, Russia adopted the brutal ways of the Mongols. The Russian nobility intermarried with their mongol tribal leaders, so it became systemic. The mongol invasion of Russia was a turning point for the worst for Russia.

Sadly when the Soviet Union dissolved the kgb/fsb like Putin and their cronies just used their access to take over private ownership of all the national assets, there was no separation of powers or transparency or body of law to prevent it. Putin ran a kleptocracy in St Petersburg before doing the same from Moscow. The Magnitsky Act is so important, don’t ever let it get repealed.

Given the many natural resources in Russia, the standard of living of the Russian population could be higher than that of Norway (high incomes, high pensions, best and cheap quality medical care, very good infrastructure all over the country, a public swimming pool and a library in every village, top schools and universities etc.). - If the Russians did not tolerate a gang of thieves as their government. In addition to that the direct cost of war (only battle field in Ukraine) is 500.000.000,00 $ per day at minimum. Putin is runing that country. I wonder how long the Russian people is going to accept that. Not to mention the demographic catastrophe that is on the horizon.

For anyone who doesn't understand why Putin invaded Ukraine and what's really going on in Russia - their minds confused, for example, by the likes of Jeremy Corbin - this brilliant talk by an exceptionally clear-headed and well-informed speaker should make it all clear.

Mr. Browder I’d presenting the reality about the personality of Putin highly incorrect and skewed in the direction of a Hollywood simplification of the pieces involved. Maybe a interesting book to read, not necessarily very close to the realities around Putin, specifically in terms of interpretation of events, but also their representation.

XPutin is not a mere sadist monster, who randomly came to power, because Putin is not random at all, but he's part of an ancient SwiSS medieval Order of the Nazi Templars of Octogon, who have deliberately put him there; it's not some sort of a mistake, that Putin got there, where he is today, which it isn't, as everything went according to plan. For total intel on Putin watch the 8 hour documentary "The Swiss Beast - Home of the Devil; Part 7 Switzerland's Sleeper Agent Putin" on the KZbin channel "HomieLand Sickurity".

They were probably laughing at how absurd that system is, as opposed to the idea of people getting poisoned and dying. Like how americans laugh at British people for having funny teeth. It's effectively a stereotype for Russia now, thanks to Putin.
