Browder’s new book chronicles his work exposing the vast Russian money laundering scheme that made him Putin’s number one enemy and prompted Russia’s intervention in the 2016 US presidential election. I read his book freezing order. It's truly a fascinating book and was definitely hooked onto it. Browder is determined to have the Magnitsky Act passed in the EU and United States so that Putin and the oligarchs cannot continue to enrich themselves through illegal means. His pursuit for justice and stand up to the corruption in Russia blew my mind. My favorite part of the book is where he was in a deposition and he screwed around with the senior partner of BakerHosteler. He took his time to waste their 7 hours so the lawyer would have any useful information that could endanger him, his family, and team.

Absolutely fascinating book. It's really opened my eyes to Russia how scary it is. This man is so brave. We in S.A. have been captured and they need to apply that act here as there has been much money laundering but no political will to do anything. One of the companies involved is Bain a global company based in Boston. They were banned today in UK but they are still operating in S.A. with no prosecution imminent. What a sick world.

Sadly when the Soviet Union dissolved the kgb/fsb like Putin and their cronies just used their access to take over private ownership of all the national assets, there was no separation of powers or transparency or body of law to prevent it. Putin ran a kleptocracy in St Petersburg before doing the same from Moscow. The Magnitsky Act is so important, don’t ever let it get repealed.

Given the many natural resources in Russia, the standard of living of the Russian population could be higher than that of Norway (high incomes, high pensions, best and cheap quality medical care, very good infrastructure all over the country, a public swimming pool and a library in every village, top schools and universities etc.). - If the Russians did not tolerate a gang of thieves as their government.
