He's said on a few occasions that he doesn't mind it and that he actually likes Empire, but he didn't grow up with it as a kid, therefore he doesn't have as large of an attachment to it as most of us. The best part about the whole thing is, is that Jon Favreau wrote the Mayfield part with Bill Burr in mind. Not only because he hated Star Wars and to try and turn him into a fan. But to channel his hatred of the holier-than-thou concepts Star War is often rife with into his performance. In literally TWO appearances in the series, Burr and Favreau have completely shifted the view of the imperials, not only humanizing them, but creating a believable ideology from the imperial perception. It's a testament to Favreau's vision. He's easily a national treasure we must protec.
