It's funny cuz Shaq was talking to a WNBA player who was complaining about the pay awhile back and he suggested that they lower the rim a bit so women could dunk more to make the game more exciting. The WNBA player got mad at him for even suggesting it. Make it make sense
@burhan7066
@burhan7066 2 жыл бұрын
It was tmac who suggested it, at the ESPN Jump, with Rachel Nicole. Brianna Stewart (WNBA player) got bit offended. And I agree with wnba players. Even if the rims are lowered, it cannot make up for the lack of athleticism. I think they must have experimented. And all they saw was 2-inch-jump sloppy sad dunks that no one would want to watch either.

Wnba players on average make $102k annually. That's in the top 15% of earners in this country. Also, keep in mind that the wnba operates at a LOSS every year, and is subsidized by the NBA, which earns $8 billion annually.
@orlock20
@orlock20 2 жыл бұрын
I went to Ventura Community College and had to pay a fee to subsidize the college's sports because they were losing millions. The only extra curricular activity making money was the live theater. Millions of dollars was being lost a year by just the men's football team and this was a two year college. There are way too many sports teams out there. Even the top sporting events have lost viewers let alone ticket sales.

You'll note that most professional female athletes don't push things like this. They're tuned into the industry and understand what value they bring to a sponsor and how much they're worth. The vast majority of the bleating sheep calling for "equality" are completely ignorant of the industry. They don't actually want equality, they just want men to have less and women to have more, regardless of whether or not they earned it.

There are plenty of industries where woman on average earn far more then men(modelling, reality tv, internet streaming etc). I was glad Bill mentioned the woman fighters of the UFC because they've been killing it for awhile now. The product they put out is quality and they've earned their money. Nah but I honestly think the few woman who are blaming the poor financial state of their leagues on sexism are just hustling, I can understand the reason why as nobody wants to struggle to earn bread but it's still annoying.

There are women that can dunk, but in the NBA it's now about the 3-point shot so the dunk is not thei thing that draws the crowd. However, men's basketball is very sloppy when it comes to the rules and that's on purpose. They break the traveling rule, screening rule or double dribble rule every minute which would greatly slow down the game.

The English woman's football (soccer) team just won the European cup for the first time and it was a big thing over here in the UK, it was pushed a new dawn for women's football. I hope it is, but the fact is the men's football league kicks off next week and everyone will forget about the women's achievements including most women. That's just how it is. Look at the Olympics, once every four years we go crazy for lesser known sport then we totally forget about them when it's over.

There are so many interesting anomalies in the male vs. female sports issue...like gymnastics, women historically pull much better numbers, same in figure skating. They tend to have equal viewership in track and field, tennis, and swimming. But they get killed in basketball and soccer. However, they destroy the men in volleyball. Now, obviously, the money is mandated to be equal in tennis, but every other pro sport, it's based on popularity and unfortunately, the sports I mentioned where the women are equal or superior in popularity are mostly amateur. It's an interesting phenomenon with a lot of possible reasons...

The womens sports that are exciting are track and field, gymnastics, any fighting sports like UFC, even Pro wrestling. And then stuff like dancing too. But women’s basketball just isn’t exciting. I’m a fan of the game so I always enjoy basketball no matter who’s playing it. I don’t disregard the skills of women like some people do. They are very skilled and talented. But women’s sports just isn’t an investment of mine. I just feel like the best athletic women just don’t play ball. Most of the freakish athletes in women play other sports. And the wnba suffers because of it. Imagine if some of those world class track athletes, tennis players, gymnasts, and volleyball players played basketball instead? The game would be far more athletic and fun.

The NBA is 76 years Old... Even 40 years ago there were no Players making $1 Million a Year... WNBA is only 26 years old... When the NBA was 26 years old the Players all had Jobs in the Off Season, the NBA was a part time Job... The Only reasons that the NBA Players are making these Salaries is they built the fan base, that brought the Commercials and T.V. Coverage and Finally the Players had a reason to demand more money... The Truth is that the WNBA Looses 10 Million Dollars EVERY YEAR; that the NBA Pays! You have to have Market Share to expect to make MONEY!!!! IF it wasn't for all the Push and Influence of the NBA, the WNBA would NOT be on T.V.!!!!

He FIRST asked "Name your top 5 all time WNBA *players*". No one can seem to name any - or maybe 1 at most. You don't get an instant stream like "Michael Jordan, Shaq, Kobe, LeBron, Medowlark Lemon" (I'm not actually a sports fan, I'm surprised I can name any... and I know the last one is a Harlem Globetrotter)

That's not "a lot of truth", kids. It is all true. That's the beauty of what Bill Burr was saying. No one who has a brain can contest that. As far as the WNBA goes, I enjoy watching my little girls play basketball on our community basketball league far more than I would enjoy watching full-grown women suck at basketball, in comparison to the men I watch playing during an NBA game. They can certainly play better than I can, but I am not a professional ball player. Women, God bless you, but you need to support your ladies' teams by shutting up and showing up. By the way, Kidd & Cee. This is my first look at your videos. I will have to check out more to see if I want to subscribe. Do you recommend certain vids for me to check out?

@Elizabeth Irving Once over a certain income amount, making more is 100% the responsibility of the individuals who desire to make more. Either they create more value to generate more income or they simply don’t make more. No one should be entitled to making more money if they aren’t creating more tangible value to justify a substantial income increase.

I have never heard of female hoopers young or older say that their favorite player was another women in the WNBA. Nor have i seen them wear the jersey or team merch. The female hoopers and female basketball fans don't even watch it.

WWE's all female show Evolution got more fans and sold out the arena than the WNBA and women's soccer combined despite being a staged/rigged show which is really sad.

It's funny you mention them because WWE is basically live action soap operas for guys. People pretending to tear each other down much the same way as those other shows Bill mentioned. Nothing against the WWE but it is certainly "made for TV" entertainment.

Kidd did well naming 5 WNBA teams, but Bill’s point was more about women being able to do that. Cee could only name 1, strengthening Bill’s point(s). The soccer player you were trying to think of was David Beckham from England with model good looks. The other player was Cristiano Renaldo (you mentioned Messi). To appreciate Renaldo’s skill please take 2:20 to watch the link below. He disguises himself as an old man and heads to a game of top amateurs. At first they try to politely usher him off the court. Then he turns it on. His skills are Harlem Globetrotter-ish in soccer!

You're getting paid as well, as your business prosper. In sports if you don't sell tickets, merchandise and ads space and time, you're not earning. Simple as that.
