So many others play chords, sometimes beautiful individually, but with no idea where they came from or to where they are going. Bill Evans turns a slideshow of chordal "still shots" into a moving picture. That is modern counterpoint, and very rare.

Bill's music fundamentals, theories, counter point study, years of experience playing with other Jazz greats and trial and error has grafted him into one of my great piano heroes. I love the shot where he is at the piano with a pencil between his fingers ready to write down his discoveries as he plays through chord changes. He plays with knowledge and feelings. He is very expressive in his approach.
