nope, not chaos. entropy. despite the common delusion, entropy is not chaos. entropy is settling down of energy potential difference in a closed system from a zero sum state only to a zero value per particle. in short, it is the perfect order where everything is equal. by reducing the social distance between humans, we are introducing entropy between them.

I taught for many years. Had to-no, CARED to-memorize 60 student names each semester inside of a week. I discovered it's actually not that hard: you simply have to be present and focus on the unique individual in front of you when they say their name, then repeat it back to yourself in your head. It sticks in the same way you remember your sister or friend's name because you associate the name with the unique, distinct person. The problem is, when we meet people, we're often too caught up in ourselves-"what do they think of me? what am I going to say next?"-so we don't listen and sort of objectify new people in moment. When you remember someone's name, they feel acknowledged, thus more likely to want to engage with you. You also appear to them to be more confident and emotionally intelligent.

Hader is one of the SNL greats now. He’s just so unbelievably, naturally, and perfectly funny. Best voices, incredible faces he makes, he really *becomes* whatever insane character he’s playing, and you can tell he loves doing most of the roles he does. I’m sure there’s been at least a couple where he may have not loved the character, but he put in the work anyway. That’s what makes him so fantastic. I could not stop getting giddy when he was in It Part Two. And when he was in despair, I was in despair. He’s an astonishing comedian, but he’s just as good at acting in more serious moments like that 🥺❤️🫶🏻

There comes a point-of-no-return with certain people. When you often have only heard their name once, or twice, but it's been so long that you CAN'T ask them without offending them. So, you just have to play it cool and hope that you overhear it at some point. Often, the chance never comes.
@bisousethiboux4 ай бұрын
I usually bite the bullet the third or fourth time meeting them and just ask their name apologetically but effusively. pay it off as me being d'oh. then at some point after that I know them well enough to add them on Facebook or save their name & number to my phone, and that way I have their name saved somewhere (and if with a profile pic, also a static unchanging visual thing I can tie to them even if it's not a picture of their face) then again I wonder sometimes if I should try and start to socialise differently as I approach my 30s, as I often catch myself behaving with a kinda "scatterbrained young uni student" vibe plus working from an old scarcity mindset from back when I had no friends as a kid. easier to remember stuff about your friends when you're a) busy with studies and b) barely have any, lmao
