An interesting experiment on line stretch is to tie your fishing line to a small object. Have someone hold that object between their fingers and walk 50 or 60 feet away from you. Then set the hook and see how much you move their hand. With monofilament especially, this little test can be an eye opener.

the creature bait at 5:54 is a reaction innovations sweet beaver in backwater blue. at 1:14 it is a zoom brush hogs not sure what size or color but i think it is the original in junebug.

think it was a Tightlines UV beaver... but not sure since that exact shape is common to many brands, Tightlines, Big bite baits, and Gander mountain all use that specific shape for there beaver lures

Per Bill Lowen, he was using a 7' MH All Pro rod the APX series

Bill was pretty accommodating and open about many things that day including the hot new crankbait right before the Bassmaster Classic. Dave Mercer even mentioned at the Classic that he was surprised Bill would let that cat out of the bag. One thing Bill did choose to keep private was the exact brand and type the blue bait was. We did ask and we have to honor his request considering how informative he was overall. Hope you enjoyed the video.

Bill Lowen was very open about almost everything he was doing that day, especially considering it was practice for the 2012 Bassmaster Classic. But, that was one thing he chose to keep quiet. He said he preferred not to share that lure's identity. Otherwise, I would have it for you. Luckily, there are tons of great creature and beaver baits out there!

(to long for one post) but the weird creatures like lizzards or just rubber with weird flaps and legs works great for our perch (they are most targeted with bass material and techniques there average size is a foot but 40/50cm is not rare. The more worm-ish and minnow/baitfish imitations catch a huge load of zander. Wether vertical jigging with a jighead with or without skirt or carolina and dropshot its fantastic and huge fun.

@blablabla5113 his hard sets are for if its a 8lb+ bass, a good hook set is needed to penetrate their thicker mouth. You may just never know when one hits, especially fishing the way he is.

It's just how we do it. There's some bony areas in the bass' mouth. Sometimes, you need to move them out or away from cover quick. If you're using monofilament line, there's quite a bit of line stretch to compensate for too depending on how far out the fish is. Even fluorocarbon has a fair amount of stretch. Plus, the faster you get a bass in, the better shape it is in for release.

Most anglers were fishing pretty shallow at that event. cameraguy says Bill Lowen was in less than 6 feet most of the day, often fishing in only 2 or 3 feet of water.

Realy Cool vid but i have a question. Why Do bass fisherman set the hook so hard I`m from the netherlands and we don`t have bass here so it looks a bit un natural like youre trying to yank its jaw of. But its a great vid and its frealy cool to say the techniques en baits from the usa introduced here. More and more people fish cariolina and texas rigs and dropshot is extremely populair for our toothy critters. Also soft baits are getting more and more popular like senkos and slugs

For some reason, maybe not enough water in the vegetation, frogs weren't a factor. Creatures baits and crankbaits were big in this tournament.

spinning wheel for sea fishing, thick rod on which U don't feel the exact moment of catch, he's pulling that fish as if he'd like to tear its mouth. No offence but I'm sport fisherman as well and i don't buy that kind of fishing.

You fished only in places that the cover was sprayed dead. The bigger fish get affected the most by the chemicals. Always think green!
