A narcissist would never hire one of the smartest/richest men (Musk) in the world to work for him. They would never share the stage with people who can distract from their greatness. I'm curious ... how would you differentiate "narcissism" from "confident and liking people liking you"?
@jamesday35913 күн бұрын
For my own curiosity, I just looked up the DSM-5 criteria for Narcissism. (Yes, you said "narcissistic" and not "a narcissist", and I can appreciate that distinction, so I'm not claiming that you said that he had Narcissist Personality Disorder, but I was still curious. ;) Here's what I found, and what I think as a result: DSM-5 Criteria A pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy, including at least five (5) of the following nine (9) criteria: 1. Having a grandiose sense of self-importance, such as exaggerating achievements and talents, expecting to be recognized as superior even without commensurate achievements I would say no, because he's achieved incredible, world-renowned success in multiple arenas, therefore, he's not exaggerating his achievements, and I don't recall him ever doing so, even in interviews in the 80's. 0/9 2. Preoccupation with fantasies of success, power, beauty, and idealization Maybe. It's hard to say, but since I've never heard anyone who's known him personally to describe him this way, I doubt. 0-1/9 3. Belief in being "special" and that they can only be understood by or associated with other high-status people (or institutions) Definitely not. He speaks in an almost "too" down to earth manner. He's very much a "common" person's man, just extremely successful. For example, when he "worked" at McDonald's, even though it was a publicity stunt, the workers there very much enjoyed him being there, and reported that he was genuinely interested in them, and learning from them how to perform the right functions the right way. I've never heard him talk "above" people at all. 0-1/9 4. Demanding excessive admiration I don't think so. I've never heard him talk about how he "deserves" to be president. You go back and listen to his interviews in the 80's and 90's, and even then, I don't recall him ever saying anything about how people need to respect him, or how he "deserves" respect. He's confident, yes. He's blunt, yes. He's even debatably inappropriate at times, yes. But I don't think I've every heard him express anything about "demanding admiration", much less "excessive" admiration. 0-1/9 5. Sense of entitlement I would say definitely not. I've never heard him say a word about how he "deserves" anything. He never "demands" anything. He negotiates, and is willing to walk away. The willingness to walk away from negotiations, I think, demonstrates a complete "lack" of entitlement. That's one reason, I think, that so many world leaders respect (and even fear) him. 0-1/9 6. Exploitation behaviors I can see this one. I would have to be careful with it, because there's a line between "exploiting" and "exploitation". He definitely "exploits" situations. I'm not confident enough to say that he engages in "exploitation", but I also am not confident that he doesn't. 0-2/9 7. Lack of empathy Definitely not. I think that one his greatest traits is his natural empathy with people. People who have interacted with him generally report him as being very empathetic. Could this be faked (as with psychopathy)? Absolutely, but I don't see that with him, and I've never heard anyone accuse him of such. 0-2/9 8. Envy towards others or belief that others are envious of them I could see this one, but ... doubt it. *I* believe that others are definitely envious of him. :) But, I don't think he's envious of anyone else, and I don't think he carries any type of chip of his shoulder, or acts like he has anything to prove. But ... I'll give it the benefit of the doubt with a maybe. 0-3/9 9. Arrogant, haughty behaviors and attitudes I'm not sure. Maybe. Except that people who know him never report him as such. Regardless, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt with a maybe. 0-4/9 So, with four "maybe's" and five hard "no's", I would say that even in the worst case scenario, he's definitely not a narcissist according to the DSM-5 criteria for Narcissism. Thoughts?

I think most racial groups, including white people, have experienced some sort of racial bias in their lifetime. Some have experienced gender bias as well as a number of other physical and perhaps mental biases as well. Being a called a nerd, for example, or fat or short, you name it. Religion plays in as well. When people experience this, whether regularly or on rare occasion, it impacts them but every person' is different. Some become defensive and angry some develop thick skin, while others just go on about their day and don't give it much thought. When you live in SAS's world and Bill's, as well, race is always a hot topic so you are hyper sensitive. You also have an agenda, perhaps. Whenever people push any agenda there is always push back of some sort.

i don't see trump as narcissistic. seriously. i survived, barely, a truly malevolent narcissistic mother and my narcissistic radar does not detect a whiff of it with him. it seems to me that he is truly eccentric, living his life in complete indifference, in the best stoic and buddhist sense of the word, to the opinions of others. this is deeply unsettling to people who want to put him into a easily defined category. at this time narcissism is easily ascribed because it is so overworked that his eccentricity can be put there and people don't see that he doesn't fit there - and he doesn't care! all the best with what is changing. everything changes! with peace, respect, love and exuberant joy. 🙏❤🧘♂☯🧘♂❤🙏

I find this odd. The black friends and neighbors I know have the same suburban culture everyone else has

Bill Maher once said he apologizes for saying John McCain, Mitt Romney, and George Bush were all racist because this time, he actually means it when talking about Trump. Maher is a weasel.

I'd love to see Trump on Real Time. Probably never going to happen.

I am so tired of people trying to make me feel guilty for being white. It was beyond my control that I was born white, just like it is beyond others control to be born black or any other person of color. I have many people of color in my friend and professional circle and I appreciate them as individuals not their color. I feel these days, the majority of racism is perpetuated by many people of color, they seem to want to keep it going. Some of the comments that are made by people of color, if made by a white person would be considered an outrage and racist. If white people blatantly created a "white history month" or other specific white only activities and comments, we would be harshly reprimanded. Everyone, pleade just stop!

My personal belief is the first person that brings up the word race is indeed a racist. Just like Morgan Freeman said quit talking about it. As long as you keep talking about racism it exists. Anyone that plays the race card is indeed being racist. Doesn't seem to be that difficult

Same Stephen, some white people feel the same about your culture. We want to be respectful, but, honestly, need to figure out how we can become "One Nation Under God."" Together. Communication is key. There are powers within that never want harmony. Alas, Good against evil. I think We can make this Country thrive together.

Would we be surprised what any ethnicities say about others behind closed doors ! ? I doubt it ! In general we all have our own kind who disappoint us with their actions because it’s a reflection of our ethnicity as a whole !
