I met Maverick once in a small diner near my home .I was going to the local drag strip. On a Sunday morning. He saw my NHRA jacket ,asked if I was a drag racer. I said no not yet just a big fan .He said he was . I asked what class he raced .He said you may have heard of my truck ."The Little Red Wagon" I jumped up and yelled You are Bill Maverick Golden ,in the NHRA hall of fame. He just smiled and said yes I am. We ate our breakfast. BSing all the while . He took me out to the parking lot opened the trailer .And there was the Wagon. Telling me all about it . This is real great gearhead stuff . We spent about 2 hours talking with breakfast and all . He signed a matchbox on the card and gave it to me . You bet I still have it . Great showman for us gear heads to look up to as a young kid . We also lost George Barris this week . Another great gear head . We can't live for ever . But these guys really had fun while they were with us . Thanks Maverick,it was cool as hell seeing you at U.S. 30 drag strip outside Gary In. As a high school kid . Thanks ,Mopars rule

Art Vandelay There are somethings in life you just don't do, near the top of that list is call someone a liar unless your standing face to face with them. It's easy when your hiding behind a computer keyboard. It's just a typical liberal move, somebody has something you don't so it has to be a lie. It was golden age run what you brung drag racing and those stories are really common. Is this one true or not is irrelevant, I'll take it face value because of the era it was and that is what racing was about then.

This is actually the Number Four Little Red Wagon after Number Three almost killed him in Quebec City Canada 1975, I know this because I crewed for him from 1988 to 2002 his retirement, The Number Three remains are sold to a friend of mine in Pennsylvania he sold it to a guy out in Arizona that is building a clone and also has a clone of a Hurst Hemi Under Glass Barracuda.

Actually the announcer is wrong. The engine doesn't sit exactly where it did in the factory truck they moved it back about 2 or 3 feet. I know I've owned about a half a dozen Vans and pickup trucks of the Dodge a100 unbuilt tons of models of the Little Red Wagon in my youth bill was awesome!

Would love to find another one.someone then took a ford, turn the body end for end and made the backup pickup lol.memories
