Bill Monroe Little Cabin Home On The Hill

William Smith Monroe (/mənˈroʊ/; September 13, 1911 - September 9, 1996) was an American mandolinist, singer, and songwriter who created the style of music known as bluegrass. The genre takes its name from his band, the Blue Grass Boys, named for Monroe's home state of Kentucky. Monroe's performing career spanned 69 years as a singer, instrumentalist, composer and bandleader. He is often referred to as the Father of Bluegrass.

This is a wonderful live performance (perhaps from the 1970's or 1980's?) - - thank you so much! I especially love the photo that appears from 1:52 for about 5 seconds during Bill's sparkling mandolin break: the five mandolinists shown are, from left to right, are David Grisman - Ronnie Reno - Bobby Osborne - Bill Monroe - John Duffey, with guitarist Peter Rowan on the right. Btw, that photo is from a workshop at Carlton Haney's 1966 Roanoke (Virginia) Bluegrass Festival. [I did not snap the photo, but I'm proud to say I was in the audience!]

Is every bluegrass tune a combination of G, C and D? Seems like a lot of them are three basic chords and use the same melody.

Not an ignorant question or insult of any kind. I'm pretty sure this is Lamar Grier, given the right hand, note choices and time period this seems to be from. This would also indicate 1960's if I am correct.
