Joseph I never thought I would see this SNL short again! In the summer of 1978 I was a bus driver for a visiting team, and we stopped at Grays Harbour for a double header the first night and the second night for a single game. I met most of those players, listened to an old organist mess up my anthem completely ( very funny actually ), sat in the stands for free behind the plate, got approached by several young girls as I was wearing the same ball cap as the team I drove around, and had an all round good time. A few months later as a devoted SNL fan I watched as the "Olympic Stadium" showed on the screen and there was the team messing with Bill Murray. I kinda freaked out. I told other people about it and no one believed me. Now I can't believe that this showed up on my KZbin feed. Thanks so much for it. I'm 68 years old and like John here I had a great laugh too! Two days later we were in Walla Walla. That was not much fun. Score after the first inning 13-2 for the home team. Very quiet bus all the way home......and it was a long drive.

That is a great story to hear. Two of my friends were the batboys that year, one for the home team and the other for the visitors. I found a VHS copy on eBay so I could get it to the family. Here is a link to an article about the team that year. www.foxsports.com/stories/other/the-summer-of-bill-murray. Also there is a movie out now called "The Hill" about Rickey Hill who overcame a disability to play pro ball. He was on the GH Loggers that year and they won the NW League Championship. Thanks for the reply.

@@kcgb-the-book Great article - thanks for that. The team I drove? The Victoria Mussels. I imagine they played the Loggers a few times that summer, so I don't think Murray was there when I was. If he was I am totally bummed out now! But it's great to know that he played against them. On a side note the Mussels organization stiffed my boss, the owner of the charter bus company I drove for. He got about 50% of the invoice, so I never drove them around again. The team seemed to like me and my driving, so during the trip they said I should quit and be their full time "bussee" as they called it. Many of them had played for a New York State team ( most were from North Carolina ) and had a great driver there who took them everywhere. I said "Maybe just hire him again?" "Can't" they said, "he got murdered" in a tavern after a long night of drinking with the team. "No, but thanks for asking" was all I said.....
