My Dad LOVED Be Bop Deluxe and used to play his records. I was really young, like seven or eight, and this is like 15 years ago. I started searching for his music recently, and ran across all these videos. I have to say, he is astonishingly brilliant. An artist in every sense of the word. My Dad laughs because I talk about him like he's a recent phenomenon - MY find. LOL!

Bill Nelson's creativity is amazing!! I sort of lost track of him post Be Bop Deluxe and just in the last few years rediscovered what he's been up to and have been stunned at his continued work!! His playful sense of retro pop scifi is so much fun!! His musicianship is tremendous, his guitar playing is transcendant!!!

I'd say Bill Nelson is probably one of the biggest unsung heroes of the music world over the last 40+ years. Musical genius in some respects, pretty much ticks all the boxes; singer, songwriter, musican/guitarist/Multi instrumentalist, producer. He has an amazing work ethic when it comes to releasing music and even though he hasn't enjoyed the mainstream success of his Be-Bop Deluxe days this hasn't diminished his musical output and the best thing to come out of Wakefield!

Vastly underrated as a musician & guitarist by the media. Not however, by his army of fans who have religiously followed him over the decades. A great talent.

I never really thought of it until now, but watching this makes you realize that Bill was probably the pioneer of Modern Romantic Music. Way before the 90's

Connection.... Bill Nelson produced The Skids second album Days in Europa. The Skids singer married Mariella Frostrup.

Coppertunes You're spot on, she did marry Jobbers however having seen both BBD & Skids in full flight in this era I think we can forgive a little possible "nepotism" - PS. MF is a f**king bit wooden in this interview and that's UNFORGIVABLE ;-)

I can not tell you the amount of times I found myself putting this video on repeat at exactly 1:46 during my college years, love this track by him and to see it live its even better. Can someone please help me find this? Was it ever released, if so what album is it from so I can purchase it? Thank you ❤

It like he's playing around with the track 'Hard Facts From The Fiction Department' which features xylophone. It's not exactly the same though, sounds almost early techno.

I guess this is around the time when he made "Chimera" - the rear cover photo on that mini-album is staged in the very same room, featuring Bill sitting at his desk, holding his guitar and seeing through some of his drawings.

He is looking at tarot cards, there is a Cocteau book on the desk and he is holding an obscure guitar like instrument. I wish he would mention he was copying the Yellow magic orchestra at this time.

wow, this is enlightening-I never liked his post BeBop work, but I get it a little more now-it is still nothing like those first 5 or 6 albums-those are the best in rock music ever,in my opinion-really the epitomy of the ART.Ive always said that Bebop mixed art with music.not many bands ever did that.maybe Queen.King Crimson, but they werent really rock music

Where Bill is playing marimba sounds like an early version of "Hard Facts from the Fiction Department" (from The Two - Fold Aspect - UK version, on the second disc - Confessions of a four -track mind).
