Wish there was time for explanations, but I understand he had to hurry before they cut to commercial. I don't get how the balloon ruptured when it wasn't deformed anywhere near full capacity. Or maybe it didn't rupture. Maybe that was a sucking noise we heard, not a popping noise.

The soap breaks the surface tension. You can do this with a bowl/plate of water, sprinkle ground black pepper ontop, then drip soap in the middle. It'll do the same thing. :)
