When Chucky enters "Hidey Ho Mode" the surviors see & hear phantom footsteps.

Better yet, the white puffs from the footprints hearken back to the first Child's Play film.

Chucky also leaves behind foot prints as he walks. A survivor can pinpoint his location behind walls or objects by the foot prints he leaves behind. When chucky enters "Hidey Ho Mode" he creates fake footprints around the map so a survivor cannot pinpoint exactly where he is coming from.
