my dad use to make me stretch to bill everyday. in one of the videos he says, "don't worry if you can't touch your toes yet, you're mine for a while." he said it with this twinge of insanity in his eyes... love it

@@poolboyinla at 40 I can almost put both feet behind my head. Still flexible.

@@macIain I could do the forward splits. Never could quite do the side splits. But at 40 I'm still in shape and flexible.

I met him in the 80’s just before his hip surgery. Very approachable unlike so many bad asses. A true practitioner of real martial arts. Very humble and honorable.

I had a friend who built a stretching machine with ropes ,& a tree. But you were at the mercy of who held the ropes. Needless to say more than once they would pull the ropes way too tight, he would cry out in pain. However after several months of stretching he became limber enough to sweep over his head ,& bust lightbulbs out of ceilings. He was already about 6'11when we were 14. I Miss you buddy

I watched superfoot take 3 different black belt instructors for 3 round each in the early 90's. It was an exibition so he was nice. Then one guy got all serious and punched him hard in the face. Bill opened up and kicks him hard in the face 4 or 5 times, it was hard to tell, happens so fast. Axe kick, heal kick, round hose side kick all to face foot never went down. The dudes nose busted, blood gushing, and Bill felt terrible. Prior to getting punched he was all nice and having fun then when the guy hit him it was like a dark cloud covered his face, so cool, he was pissed. Bill was so fast 4 kicks under 2 sec, his foot was as fast as your hand when swatting an angry hornet.

@@Southpawgolfnz Bill was teaching and competing in Memphis when I was doing karate about 32 years ago. I was about 35 then and a student in North Mississippi. He would occasionally show up at some of the tournaments in that area. Bill is about 73 now. If you think he is good in these videos, you should have seen him in person back then! He was feared by everyone. Very few dared to fight him.

Just saying your constant "look at the difference. Look at the difference." Is based off your current position i.e. someone's position that was able to do the splits all along. Good stretches though.

@noahcarver60724 жыл бұрын
You can. It is not easy, no shortcuts, just putting yourself through intense discomfort almost daily to make advancements, which you will slowly but surely. I am in my 30s and have been making improvements in small increments over some months of very consistant training. Not in the splits yet but closer than i've ever been.

Nice vid ,, Wonder if he ever studied ballet type stretching etc,while at university or else where? where did he begin to learn and develope his stretching? Jeff Smith,Kang Rhee,other? Also,what effect has 2 hip replacement had on the range of motion and stretching?
@River46ps Жыл бұрын
I did a seminar with him this past fall. He's ancient and still kicking over his head and fast as lightning! He told us he had studied kinesiology, which is the physics of movement (of the body). I'm a PTA by profession and I can tell the depth of his study and understanding. The kinesiology is a huge part of his stretching routines, which are absolutely excellent, and physiologically sound. Not sure about the effect the hip replacement had on him though ... I sure couldn't tell!
