30 Years of bowing to Mick and Keith was enough! He’s actually a very good guy and was good friends with Brian Jones. He shared an apartment with him in the early days. He was a witness to how poorly the Glimmer Twins treated him. And Wyman tells the truth about what he saw. They are probably glad he’s not around to contradict them.

Bill got screwed and that's really cold after all the years, especially in the beginning when the others had to borrow his amps etc. I'm sure all Stones fans would prefer to see Bill on tour than anyone. Two songs? Freakin insult. Mick should be ashamed. No excuse. Got to respect Bill for sticking to his guns, he's right !!

yeah ,that seems abit mysterious ,why only 2.? I dont know how many songs they played a night but Id just divide up the number of songs by the number of bass players.,,,,,,,the band surely had fun with this one. A comedy of error!!I and maybe subtle punishment for leaving the group,,,,jokingly,,,,regardless,there all buddies surely,I mean,he didnt play long in the group,,only 30 years!!lol

Bill Wyman had a magic about him when it came to playing the bass, he played like no other, yet all creative and all inventive, that's what separated him from other rote bass players. Saw him once playing with Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood, I could see Rod Stewart smiling in awe and shocked by just how great Bill Wyman's sound made his number come alive, even Ronnie Wood was surprised. The Stones gave up a lot not having Wyman on board. I'll say this, Wyman would've made the Stones "Never Make a Saint of Me" a home run and knocked it out of the ball park, even though Daryl Jones did a fine studio player's recording, Wyman's version would've been star sparkled and pure power driven dynamite, which was what made the Stones the ball breaking group they were, in the first place. Even Brian was a big loss, the variety of instrumentation died along with him.

Darryl Jones has been with the band for 27 years but if there’s any press photos of ‘the band’ he’s never in them as Mick & Keith don’t include him as one of the band. Similarly Mick Taylor wrote Moonlight Mile with Mick but never got a writing credit, it was credited to Mick & Keith. Shocking egomaniac dictators.

Predictable "The Stones haven't been the same since 1965/1969/1974/1981/1993", or "since Brian Jones died/Mick Taylor left/Ian Stewart died/Bill Wyman left" tedium. True Stones fans appreciate them regardless, rather than just appreciating certain points in their history and moaning about the rest.

Undig him and he'd play castagnets The stones should have stopped since 1984/6 I saw them in 1990 - it was already finished* their job is still ok but really really overrated and it's normal - since 1984/6 there's no more link between members of the band. Maybe their last album is a real pals album but i didn't hear it. *maybe it was finished before but in 1982 they were still very powerful on stage even if videos show a Jagger very distant from other members

Mick & Keith are The Rolling Stones and have always been since the band adopted their own personality, started to write their own material and stopped being a band of blues covers. Brian was the leader in the very early times when they did only covers, because he had no talent to write. But if they had continued making only covers they would not have lasted more than two years. But fortunately Jagger and Richards talent and creativity emerged on time to save the band from being one more of the pack and put them on top of the world along with The Beatles. You know, it does not matter what the envious and unreasonable people like Max820 and others can say. The truth is that Mick & Keith were, are and will always be THE MAIN MEN of this legendary group.

not really, you’ve obviously only looked from a very bias side of the story and obviously haven’t focused on the fact that, whilst he was very talented, brian grew to be very self destructive and the stones had every right to fire him. you can’t like the stones if you dislike mick and keith, they’re the songwriting power who boosted them to fame. yes brian acted as a leader but the other members were just as important; mick was and still is an ever so charismatic frontman and keith and charlie fuel the rhythmic force behind the stones.

Bill was a great bass player with the Stones but I always felt he left under a cloud because of the girlies. Saw Mick Taylor some years back and was disgusted that he stood there hardly tickling his strings while a guy stood at the back in the shadow was taking all the solos. Still a shame Bill only got to play two songs though, and a bigger shame that Ian Stewart wasn't there to boogie them along. RIP Ian.

@cathridge
@cathridge 2 жыл бұрын
Not really. His bass was barely a rumble and Mick, Keith or Ronnie played many of his parts on records. Of more importance to the Stones was Wyman's membership as an original member. Anyone can play his parts. It's only rock bass, not funk or jazz where the bass really stands out. The audience doesn't respond to that like it does the sight of seeing a classic or original lineup of their favorite band. If Bill was still there, he could get away with playing a couple notes per song with some flubs and the crowd would still go nuts because they're watching one of the classic Stones lineup. Darryl Jones could play everything flawlessness like the record even throw in a flashy solo and the audience wouldn't feel the same way. There's something about the thrill of seeing a classic lineup that gets people excited.

Bill would start out behind and weave his way back in front to PUSH the song along. He just had talent you can’t teach. I remember when he said that on one of his report cards in school, that his music teacher wrote in the margin something like, “Bill has music flowing out of his body”. Fascinating conversation. I can see his side of it. 2 songs? Pretty lame for what was billed as the 50th REUNION tour. On the other hand that's all Mick Taylor was doing as well and so it doesn't seem as if it was anything personal. MT chose to continue touring with them happy to be a part of it again. B Wyman didn't though and it seems to be more of a grudge on his part and his getting back at them for just allowing him 2 songs. Why just the 2 songs? I think M Jagger and Keith are intensely loyal to whomever is part of the band. And Daryl Jones and RWood have been with them for decades now. I think they saw more than 2 songs as being more than a "guest " appearance and imposing on what is now the Stones. And so, I can't blame them BUT I also can't blame BWyman for just basically saying it wasn't worth his time to continue on. Maybe he could have been more understanding though of the whole situation. Tough call all the way around as to what was right.

I love the way he never seemed to care much about the band and recently for this episode. Of course, in a good way. Why so much ego coming from the Stones after 50+ years? It's like they're thinking they have 50 more years to live. As someone commented here, "it's good he at least did the two numbers and then told them to slag off". That was a hell of a good example.

Ok, but it's Bill Wyman, man.. For example, for years KISS paid a salary for drummer Eric Singer to stay "in the refrigerator" while they were on the reunion tour, in late 90's. Later, he came back and plays till today. The bass guy plays with the Stones since decades, but still an employee and he's really not Bill Wyman.
@krollpeter
@krollpeter 5 жыл бұрын
@@RaulGomes91 I believe that is not comparable, because with Kiss basically 4 masks are playing. I also believe they were actually not thaaaat keen to get Mr. Wyman back, it was more a concession to the audience. Paul McCartney occasionally accepts Mr. Starr on stage. Usually he "plays" only one song. The drummer Mr. Laboriel is actually so much better. But the fans are running crazy about Ringo, and for him it is a nice promo.
