I'm Colombian and I have to be honest here: Despite growing up listening Shakira's songs and enjoying some of them, I never felt a real connection to her music. But now, I feel a deep respect to her as a musician, as a songwriter, as an entrepreneur, as a mother, and as a successful woman. It is not easy elevating yourself from a Colombian town in the Caribbean to super global stardom. My respects to you Shakira.
