What you do Bill is nothing short of amazing. I'm 20 years and can't believe how far I've come. I'm away in Thialand, can't believe the success. Its still tough with deficits, but honestly it's doable

I'm three weeks after the stroke at my 34 years. Your channel helps a lot, Bill. I'm only at the beggining of my journey, but it is very important to see that people do actually live after the stroke and find the updated new meaning of their lives considering the limitations they get after the incident. In my case I was able to walk 5 km today. The damaged area inside the brain is measured in millimeters, not the worst case. But the rehabilitation is still quite tough. The way the blood circulates inside the brain changes from time to time, making it hard to think, plan, choose words, causing strange feelings in my face. Some sort of waves where several hours during the day you feel almost normal, but then for 10 hours the brain starts its own recovery and my cognitive requests are blocked, making myself feeling 'lagging' and demotivated. Also fatigue is stepping in from time to time. Still, I'm finding it a positive experience, cause it could be stroke of a totally another level in several years of the same lifestyle. Now I'm much deeper into my health and, probably, will live longer due to that. Really, no one is promised to have tomorrow. I'm happy I'm still here and was able to see my wife, hear my children, etc. Thank you again and have a nice day. ))

Thanks! Very helpful. I too used to speak to large crowds. Two strokes, and Aphasia, ended that. Oh well, it's time for something else. I know I survived to show others how to stay strong and to always keep trying! And that's a good thing!

I also had sleep stroke, so I guess I part of the 2% The I had an Ischemic stroke, outdoors not have the injection either that I was told there was a a very small percentage that survived the type I had especially at how massive it was. iI am to thankful to still be alive, thank you for sharing, I’m at a new realization of how close to that experience!

Bill thank you this episode really resonates, I too as a stroke survivor of 5 barely months I have survivors guilt I have some deficits yet many people don’t see or understand. As I recover and continue to work on my cognitive deficits I too think of ways I can help others see all the good that comes from holding space for ourselves in this time.
@BillGasiamis2 ай бұрын
Helping others really does channel that survivors guilt in the right direction.

it's great to see you positive, but we would benefit much more from what drug the guest is using that keeps his aphasia under control? it would be nice if he shared it, maybe it would be useful to someone else
@BillGasiamis2 ай бұрын
His aphasia recovery is related to rehabilitation and perhaps not a less severe version of Aphasia than others, so with time his speech improved.
