I remember Cubix... I remember the "Robots for everyone" subtitle and Cubix's ability to reshape himself into different things. I know for a fact I enjoyed it as a kid but yeah I don't know if even nostalgia could save a rewatch... If there is one thing I kind of want for nostalgia's sake... It might be an unpopular opinion but I kind of want to see it get rebooted with today's CG technology. Although it's not in the slightest bit unique, I've always had a softspot for those types of kids shows where it's this special place where "humans and [insert marketable mascot being] coexist to make the place prosper..." I don't really know. I enjoy the concept of this sort of stuff so it's just something I'd be curious to see make this miraculous come-back and it's somehow better than ever or something.

Cubix's legacy is in its successor. Dahl Lee, who created Cubix, also created Tobot, one of South Korea's most successful and long-running media properties. The franchise hasn't been given much of a push in the western world, partially because Lee felt 4Kids took advantage of them. In 2011, Young Toys, the manufacturer of the Tobot toyline, put out a special magnetic Cubix figure. It's probably the best the show ever got.

I did watch Cubix and I've a couple of fun things to say about it. 1. The toys are just okay. Cubix himself is neat, but he doesn't transform in as many ways as the show and is lackluster. Also you aren't missing a thing by not having the cards. Never had the BK toys though. I do have a birthday cake topper still sealed though. A true keeper. 2. I still name my router Cubix. 3. The first episode has a song in it near the end. I believe the lyrics are "You can never have too much love for your friends and family. Don't ever give up your dreams. You can never have too much of it. You can never have." It comes out of nowhere and is amazing. I cannot find ANY info on this song and have looked on several occasions as I randomly sing it in the car with friends. This video was great. Thanks for talking about Cubix.

It was so good. Putting the blandness of the characters aside (which c'mon, they're kids), everything is so charming about the show. The way the world is slowly revealed to you, how there's a bunch of mysteries that unfold as the journey goes on, and even the layered story telling through a bunch of seemingly random plots at first. Everything unfolds at this steady pace, you want to see what the world has to offer, figure out what exactly the bad guys want, see how the kids develop and interact in general (going from distrusting Connor, to genuinely accepting him as one of them). And when you get to that finale 👌 everything comes together beautifully. Such an epic ending with a huge payoff. It breaks my heart how the second season was handled. You can tell that it was made by different staff as the magic just wasn't there. There were a few cool ideas thrown around, but you could tell they were scrambling to make anything happen, which made the season feel pretty disconnected (when not involved with the new villain)

I recently got thinking about this show again, absolutely loved it as a kid, so awesome to see a recap! Glad others remember it still! But man what a shame there's no info out there on it! I remember the end of the series being INCREDIBLY HYPE back then but.... man yeah I can barely remember any of it.

@@yutarokida Well it's a pretty typical Time Bokan series, with the exception of that it has the prehistoric characters in it. It's hard to come back to as an adult, but check out the one episode Abridged Series of it on KZbin! It's damn funny. :D

Real-life is complicated enough that people can find solid things that support their ideas even if those things are few and far between. For example, if someone hates a certain group of people they will look at the bad actors of that group and use their actions to find reason to hold on to that hatred

It's almost as if bigotry is deeply woven into outdated systems and culture, to the point that even if you know about it you can't shake it because it's all you know, and isn't just disliking someone for being different.

You can say that about most of the shows on the Sat morning line up. You had the heavy hitters that everyone tuned in for like Pokemon and Yugioh, then you had the stuff they threw out there that eh, you might as well watch while you're waiting for your favorites to come on. Occasionally one of those shows thrown out there might become a heavy hitter but a lot of times the shows were just lost in the rotation.
