Everyone knows that Billie’s ‘Happier Than Ever’ album is right around the corner. It drops on July 30. The songs she has released so far - “NDA,” “Lost Cause” and “Your Power” - sketch out part of its story, but while shooting her Official Live Performances, she also offered to describe a bit of the context around the record’s creation. Our candid interview finds her referencing classic vocalists Julie London, Frank Sinatra, and Peggy Lee as influences on what she hopes becomes “a timeless record” that is both versatile yet cohesive. “I want to make things seem like the same project, but not like the same song over and over again.” ‘Happier Than Ever’ is chock with self-reflection as well. I don’t like how people are saying she has changed in a negative way. No one stays the same (especially when you are in your teen years). We grow as people. You can miss the old Billie but you can’t stop her from growing. Every Billie is beautiful and every Billie is just as special. We should praise her growth and appreciate her want for growth. Billie genuinely holds a special place in my heart. Honestly seeing her grow, seeing her this happy with herself after seeing her struggle with mental health these past years is truly empowering. I wouldn't worry too much about Billie. She is a very tough young woman dedicated to her art. In 2020, (the last year for which Billboard has full numbers), she was the second most-streamed artist in the world after BTS. She will almost certainly win the Oscar for the best original song when that Bond movie finally comes out this fall. Her documentary film has been nominated for four Emmys, and she will receive more Grammy nominations, and may very well add to the seven already on her shelf. She has a virtually sold-out world tour starting in February. (I'm not sure there is another artist working now who could sell out five nights at the OC in London!) The five songs pre-released from "Happier Than Ever" have already generated close to a Billion streams and the Album isn't even out yet. People who spend too much time buried in the toxic weeds of social media comment threads tend to lose sight of the Big Picture. The funniest thing of all is that during the last two months, while some sad, noisy hysterics have been crying "cancel Billie" her Instagram following has grown by a million subscribers and six of the top-twenty most liked Instaposts of all time are Billie. These silly people haven't even dented her momentum.

I'm 30 and I have no business going to one of your shows being that I have 2 young kids but I took that night off from mom life just to see you perform and I'm so glad I did. The talent this woman has will never be understood in my brain. I am so incredibly proud to have followed her journey for years now and i couldn't be more happy and exited for this album.
