She really went for an indie/electronic sound on this album. More so, than on previous albums. Her previous albums definitely sounded more poppy to me. I really prefer the more indie sound. Skinny is the first time I've heard the AURORA influence come out in her music. Obviously Birds of a Feather is a 90's pop ballad, but still fun. Wildflowers reminds me of old Sia in a way. Honestly, I don't think Billie's music should be categorized as pop music. It's much too experimental and intelligent, and the only writers are Billie and Phineas. The Diner sounds like it could have been written by The Gorillaz.

i fucking love this album and your reaction was tight. just a couple points i felt moved to remark on: finneas has said a few times that he wants billie's vocals to be the focus. younger billie had a very soft voice so that meant kinda keeping a void in the frequencies of his production to give her a hole to fill. her voice has become much more full (chest voice or whatever, i'm not a singer) so he now gets to fill in some of the parts he previously left out. and then i just want to share that the song "blue" is a very old song of theirs. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKXEpIVmrrV7j7M i think you might enjoy 14 yr old billie performing this one before she became "billie eilish" and was still touring with a live band. cheers!
