i really wish they could’ve given monty a chance to get better :( i know he did some really bad things and he did deserve to pay for his mistakes but he didn’t deserve to die, and even when he died they didn’t really show his side of the story as much, i wish i could’ve seen some of his good moments and more of the pain he went through at home

Notice the way that Winston looks at Monty after he says “I’m not fucking gay.” In that moment, he saw a boy who was trapped and felt like he couldn’t be who he was. When Winston says, “Okay. You can be whoever you want to be,” that’s him providing comfort and acceptance-something that Monty never got in his life. Winston knew how hard it was to accept that part of himself; he wanted to show him he was there for him.

He wasn’t my favorite character for many reasons but I think if he had a better father figure he 100% would’ve been a better person. I think that’s what makes me sympathetic towards him.

@@-Iwannadie You right in some way. But he's a very complex character and this is the reason why one may say that he is probably far more interesting than many others. You can feel he's not such a bad guy. His pain makes him rude and violent, but Monty has a warm heart. Winston could have changed him if he had a chance to do so. Timothy Granaderos is definitely a very good actor. Playing Monty is certainly not an easy thing, but he perfectly understood the character he plays. English isn't my first language and I hope my comment is clear enough! Greetings from France 😉✌
