If there's one thing I don't appreciate about her is how readily she is accepting all the limelight and glory alone while her brother is left in the audience clapping. That's bullshit. None of those artists are alternative rock. Imagine Dragons and Panic were at some point in their career, but now they make pop. With that being said Billie is by far the best artists of the 3 so it's better that she wins it than the other 2.

I have 2 Pearl Jam tattoos and have seen them numerous times. I was even lucky enough to see Nirvana once. Dave Grohl has mad respect for Billie and called her the 'future of rock.' There is room for lots of artists in the alt rock category as it is constantly evolving. I don't like all her songs, but so what? We are all getting older by the second and are losing our power to say what is legit alt. Alt has always been led by the young.

Ruth A i guess it is partly a matter of opinion but i have listened to Billie’s songs and to me it is alternate pop. There is no rock in her music. A band like tool that i mentioned before also can’t really be put in a genre. They are their own type of music but what I and everyone else i have heard talk about tool, they all say it is alternative rock. Just like how i and most people think Billie is alternate pop. Aside from all that even you said she is her own type of music so why would she win the alternate rock award?

I think the naming of the "Alternative Rock" category is an artefact from past AMAs. Now it represents alternative music as a whole instead of alternative ROCK in particular.
