Just found out that Billy passed away at 96. I watched H.R. Pufnstuf from 69 to its last episode. I then turned my attention to a bunch of groovy animals...Banana split show.. Thank you Witchipoo!!

I was an outlier as it pertains to watching the show. The neighborhood was deserted while H.R. Pufnstuf was on. The same phenomenon was in place when Dark Shadows had its run. Still, I knew this lady who portrayed Witchiepoo, the late, great Billie Hayes.

She seems quite warm and winning, a genuine soul. Man, it must have been fun (once the makeup, hat and costume were all applied) for this lady to get wicked and groovy as that Witchiepoo character. An actor could have a ball with that cartoony and manic creation.
