Secondly, I know exactly how sound is produced, as I make 4-bit lo-fi chiptune myself, fool. But you said that it was 16-bit *because* it was frequencies, which was nonsense, hence my response. And now you're trying to backtrack after being an idiot. Real smooth...

that's because of how sound works in midi format when you sample something and then scale it up or down in frequency to make higher or lower notes
@TheBeatMakersGuild10 ай бұрын
@@Laeiryn this has nothing to do with midi format midi does not make noise ... audio files or a audio signal from a synth ... playing midi notes makes noise a midi file just tells virtual instruments and synths what notes to play and at what velocity and time signature and if its not in a daw it will control tempo if u have a midi file in a daw your daws set tempo will control the tempo at which the midi file is played at ......... and the pitch shifting algorithm controls how a one shot (single audio file turned into a virtual instrument that gets pitched up and down to play different notes) sounds when being pitched up or down their is no one way different algorithms will sound different and its not going up and down in frequency its shifting the pitch which happens to change the frequency ... frequency shifting can involve no pitch shifting its different .. im a audio software developer
