There are sooo many meanings I can see. I love songs like this for that reason. The first verse could be a girl who has been abused. Possibly domestic abuse, possibly growing up that way, possibly human trafficking. I see them all as possibilities. Whatever she is, she feels like she's underwater, and a caged bird. She's in the dark. She's in the cold. Could also mean homeless but like I said, so many meanings. Second verse could be suicidal. Faint sound of friends: she can't hear the sounds of her friends and probably believes she is very alone. She has no hope for the situation. In both situations, death is something she welcomes. She doesn't mind.

Thank you Jeon Jungkook of BTS for introducing this song to me. However, it makes me sad knowing that maybe he likes this song because he can relate to it somehow. The meaning of the song is very sad.
