In Sweden a "summercat", or in Swedish "sommarkatt", is when people get a cute pet cat for the summer holidays and then abandon it when they have to go back to work. This is a big problem in Sweden, because the cats usually starve to death. When he sings "Abandoned as a summer cat" he refers to the feeling of being used and then abandoned when it really matters.

jaja, yo soy de Sevilla... te traduzco mi comentario anterior: Es una expresión sueca que hace referencia a la gente que se va de vacaciones y compra un gato sólo para el verano . Cuando regresan a la ciudad lo abandonan (por lo visto algo común allí. Aquí hacemos al contrario, los compramos para regalarlos en Reyes y los abandonamos en verano). Es un placer de verano y así se siente el protagonista cuando Lily se sube al avión.
