Kennedy Smith i think he means shes not a master of all those instruments (say, the way a classical pianist is; she knows notes and can find them on the piano and sing and play but isnt at the same comfort level as a classical pianist training for over a decade), and she probably cant do complicated licks on the guitar, etc. doesnt mean shes bad by any means it just means vocals are her main focus and she treats instruments more as accompanying instruments instead of learning advanced techniques on them. but she knows the basics and being able to sing and play with them adds a level of intimacy to her performances

It was the first song I've learned to play on the guitar. I was in the middle of my most intense depression-anxiety episodes, hiding from everyone in an unfurnished flat I rented after breaking up with my boyfriend. It'd been almost a month since I stopped showing up to work. It was my birthday and only one person remembered. I was sitting on a bed, dirty dishes and trash all around on the floor. And I was learning to play this song. At that moment, it was the only goal that didn't feel impossible.

I’m so glad billie didn’t go through with this intention. Look at where she is now. It all would’ve never happened. We’re all so grateful that we have billie and we love her. If you feel like this at all think of what you’d miss out on. Think of it, you could grow so much just like she did. This song, even the fact that it exists is not going to make children wanna commit it like some parents might think, the fact that shes here to get the song out can be and is so inspiring. Billie you will most likely never see this but if you do i love you and anyone who is seeing this i hope you will wake up with a smile on your face and fall asleep thinking of the people you love and the great person you are.

This is the first song I ever heard from Billie Eilish. When I heard it, the meaning - the pain and sadness and loneliness and yearning - cut right through to the heart of me. Her lyrics are beautiful and deeply profound. Likewise, her voice is an incredible gift and talent. Light and airy yet entirely controlled, she is unique and such a special artist.

So true, as a music teacher i have gone through the lyrics between her and her brother and i have heard some interviews where billie says what lyrics she wrote that she preferred Etc and she said some of the deeper and more philosophical lyrics of her songs… and she was very young and she wrote them .. Now I cant wait to hear songs written only by her , her brother said that in the next albums there will be songs written only by her … what I know is that this song was almost/ all written by her, she has been writing songs since she was 11 and finished at 10 years songwriter class and wrote several songs by herself … i heard the one dedicated to her dead friend famous rapper : xxxtentation .. “16.8.8 “ … 💔 WOW… this song … i cried through the whole song … if you haven't heard it listen to it .. her live with fans in silence.. Billie is special.. her brother is a genius in production, but she is a special and a genius as a creative, visionary and authentic artist… she has a depth of thought that you can feel it also in her interviews… so unique this young girl ❤️

What a fine performance. What a very fine performance. 'Listen before I go' is not a happy, upbeat, teen anthem. Rather, it is a poignant, moving, soulful insight into a person's state of mind - an ageless message to the others in one's life. This woman, this utterly surprising soulful songstress is a channel to the zeitgeist of these early years of the 21st C - presently through her music. But perhaps someday? Stage? Film? Lucky us...

@mitcht27174 ай бұрын
[August 1, 2024] I've listened to this very many times before and thought that I had commented: this is, for me, a tearjerker - this is a day after Billie turning 18, the same girl who at 15 wrote [to herself] "idontwannabeyouanymore" and at 15 wrote "Listen Before I Go" about the contemplation of ending one's life as a teen. It tears at the soul - Finneas said once in an interview [I'm not going to look it up at this time] that he believes the distinctive think about Billie's voice is its emotive quality - she can draw me in [maybe "us" in] to her vulnerability and her pain in a way that is - I think - unique, or at least, rare. And, I think, doing that, is not A DIRECT GOAL of POP music. This came out on March 29, 2019 [Maggie's B.D.] on WWAFAWDWG. And both she and Finneas in their awesome outfits look beautiful - Finneas looks handsome! Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Finneas on his 27th B.D. (July 30, 2024), the 4th anniversary of "My Future" and the 3rd Anniversary of "HTE".

One day, you will wake up, and it’ll be the same day. The same feeling. Then the next day it’ll feel less bad. It won’t hurt as much. Not because you’d numb, but because you’re starting to heal. You’re starting to recover. Then you wake up again, and again. Each time you wake up you have another reason after reason to start wanting to get up. To continue your life. To feel that you matter. And then one day. One day. You’ll wake up, and your worries you once had. Your suffering, your pain, your anxiety. It will release you. It will no longer hold power over you. And for the first time, in a long time. You’ll feel happy. And the next day you’ll be happy again. And times will be hard sometimes. But after every mountain, at the top lies a beautiful breathtaking view. You’re climbing right now. Please hang on till you reach the top. It’s so much better than you believe it to be.

I know this is cheesy but in my eyes Billie is truly the perfect person she is insanely talented, drop dead gorgeous, and super down to earth and genuinely nice and I think she deserves the world

I broke down crying after this song and this never ever happened to me before, but despite its message I take a lot of postivity out of this song because I was able to fight and win against depression and came out as a stronger and better me. I wish everyone who struggles with the same issue to be as resiliant as you can be and come to out on top.... the world needs everyone of you.
