If anyone doesn't want to make a large batch of the absinthe bitters, I did my best approximation for a single cocktail: 0.2 oz absinthe A shy 1/4 tsp of Green Chartreuse 1 drop each of Peychaud's and Angostura 4 drops of mint bitters
@TheEducatedBarfly4 жыл бұрын
Love it! Thank you!

For the people who don't want to use 3 cups of Pernod, I did the math for you... 1 part Peychauds 1 part Ango 6 parts Fees Mint Bitters 24 parts Green Chartreuse 142 parts Pernod 68 Good luck 😁
@SixpackSoap4 жыл бұрын
This just sounds like Pernod with extra steps
@67pearse4 жыл бұрын
in addition if you want to make a smaller portion for just a dasher bottle (50 ml) try: 1.5 oz absinthe+.25 oz green chartreuse +1 dash peychauds+1 dash angostura +6 dashes mint bitters. That recipe is no way near perfect or exact but it's close enough lol
@_skysick_3 жыл бұрын
There's no.... no no... _nooooo_ way those little droplets of angostura and peychaud make a perceptible difference. I'd challenge anyone to a taste test about the mint as well... Could we just call it absinthe with a little chartreuse?

Je ne suis pas Francais. Is how I remember it from French class. Had that one down for the trip we took too Quebec because it says “ I don’t know French.” I’m pretty sure. There’s multiple dialects of spoken French. There’s the French spoken in areas of Canada, Canadian French now called Quebec French, in my home state of Maine along with NH and VT speak Acadian French. Known as New England French. In Europe they also have a ton of different dialects too. My grandfather during WWII was in the United States Army, he spoke Parisian French which is now called Metropolitan French I’m pretty sure. He translated for the Army over their when they happened to need it. I know that this has nothing to do with cocktails lmao, but I went down the rabbit hole a bit when you guys said that phrase hahah. Love your videos though man, I’m just starting to get into making cocktails at home, I’ve always loved drinking them lol. Figured I’d learn the basics and be able to make some decent cocktails for myself and friends. Your channel along with Steve The Bartender’s channel have really started me down the road on this. I have to order a shaker kit right off, I have a cheap one to get by lol. But just using that I can see I’m going to want to get a good set, and how big a difference it’ll make. A cocktail glass set would probably be a good buy as well lol. Keep kicking ass man and stay safe and boozy with all this craziness out there right now!

Hey I need advice. I think I'm fine with whiskey but Im getting back to bourbon, tried woodford reserve.. And it's awful. Even tried a cocktail which is an expensive way to use WR lol, and the flavor that I don't like.... Still comes thru. But I don't know what I'm not liking. The alcohol seems more prominent than say something else of similar proof. Idk if it's the oakiness I'm not liking or what. Its just .. The same way you described absinthe, too much and comes thru. Tried all kinds of things including diluting, simple syrup, grenadine, lemon juice /bar lemonade. Nada comes thru and I'm about to give away to a friend. But sad I spent 35$ on something I'm throwing away. Thinking about trying another whiskey or bourbon but will they all be the same? Is it just not for me. I know I've heard "you just have to find the one for you" except I can't spend money trying to find the one etc or go on a tasting.

Gabriel Toledano yeah the millionaire consists of bourbon, pastis, grenadine, lemon, grand marnier and egg white and this drink subs Campari for grenadine loses the egg white and add absinthe and curaçao so I can see how one influenced the other

@TheEducatedBarfly4 жыл бұрын
Gin definitely can be described as having a pine flavor. Gin is made from Juniper berries, that are actually more like pine cones. Is the flavor overwhelming?
@cactusmann55424 жыл бұрын
@@TheEducatedBarfly Its the dominant one, yes . Out of all the components those had the greatest amount. Dont get me wrong, i also used coriander, anise(regular), pimento/allspice, rosemary , black pepper seeds/peppercorn ,lemon and grapfruit peel and a piece of candied ginger. Tried to get cardamom but couldn't find any. Thus the ginger. I did try the juniper tea beforehand, so id say its the closest to that...
