There's something crucial that someone with 4 gil-maxed retainers told me about "getting rich": Make sure you're *actually playing the game*. "Playing the game" doesn't mean you should feel compelled to spam EX trials, to dungeon delve ad nauseum, or to do any other instanced content. It means that it's important you actually enjoy what you're doing to make said gil. If you enjoy crafting and are good enough to turn it into dosh, great. If you like playing the market board like a Wall Street person might play a commodities market for arbitrage, fantastic. If you enjoy hyper-efficient cluster or fragment farms in Bozja, more power to you. If you do have a blast from said trials, raids, and dungeons, that's awesome. But don't burn yourself out and fail to have fun in a game you are spending actual money on each month. I have about 200M gil, most of which came from Eureka. I love doing Eureka stuff, whether it's running the Baldesion Arsenal, alt-tabbing while bunny farming in Pyros, or warped lockbox farming from mutated monsters. It's a great way to make gil, and I have a blast doing it, but it's not for everyone. Find a method you enjoy and that's somewhat efficient, and you'll get a lot more out of things.

@@DesperiusFFXIV as Eve mentioned, I rarely use any gil... but hell, I'd love that golden 50m namazu mount, that's what I'm getting gil for... pretty much xD and that's just a gil sink, worthless and does not give any advantages. For gear you can grind it with tokens/scrips (unless you want to do savage stuff), for materia you can do many things to get materia, I guess if you're not leveling lets say crafters / gatherers, even food might not be needed. Potions.. maybe... on rare occasions. Glamour... you can grind it, you can buy it. That's pretty much it, glam is where the gil goes to in the end, and not because it's needed, it's just convenient to use gil to get glams. Gil is pretty much a shortcut to get anything ingame, but it's not a requirement. Hell, the glam I'm using for my PLD is from pvp tokens and it looks sick.

I actually broke 100m for the first time a couple days ago. properly set up omnicrafting with pentamelded gear, churning out exarchic every day for a little over a month now. usually do a full set of fending & casting every day plus 1 of every weapon that has sold. once every week or so ill restock healing / striking / maiming but i dont keep those restocked alot. in about 5 weeks i've made about 75 mil profit, sitting at around 105 total now ( i started at about 30 mil in the bank). my goal was to hit 100m before endwalker, mission accomplished ;)

I just buy the cheapest pieces in bulk (typically Monk) then upgrade them to 520 pieces for other classes since the vendor doesn't care about whether I gave them fending gear or aiming etc. They give the same tokens either way. That's how I geared up my off role jobs.

@@Trollingunicorn3 Buy cheap HQ Exarchic gear and then take it to Hillicen in Eulmore. You the turn them on for HQ tokens of Grandeur. You also need to convert your allegory to crystalline rain, 100 for 1 rain. Each augmented 520 takes a certain number of rains and HQ tokens.

You should mostly do this to gain accessories and belts. If you wind up doing Bozjan you'll get tons of good free body armor from item level 485-525.

Once I hit my bil mark (I'm well over it now) I eased back on crafting and a good thing too because I feel since Asmon hit Aether DC, many transferred over and the markets have been flooded. Not to mention yet another bot made their appearance knocking items down to super cheap. Sure 10-30k might not seem that cheap but high lvl items were up near full 100k so yeah so many are countering the bot and I feel bad for them (a little bit). But the aether market is just non-stop changing its crazy and it wasn't this bad.

With the buy low sell high approach you mentioned with buying stuff and then being patient - you can also world hop and see if items on another world are cheaper than on yours, then bring it back to sell (I bought an axe for 40k and sold it for 220k on my own world, for example)

The augmented level 80 blue stuff stuff will probably be available for poetics then, like the 70 stuff is in ShB, or someone can gear up pretty easily off of the new crafted junk 81+. Exarchic of any kind is mostly to gear your alt jobs, or to "catch up" if you stopped playing in 5.3 or something. Savvy players know it doesn't even matter which gear you turn in. Personally I bought a ton of cheap Scouting pieces and converted them to augmented everything, not just Scouting pieces.

Not sure if it's valid anymore, but Diadem in the Firmament used to be a convenient way to make money and exp a gatherer at the same time. Diadem is pretty mindless and you can basically autopilot while watching tv or something, and the materials used to sell decently enough in large stacks on the market boards. Turning in materials would also net you scrips which you could either use for gear or to buy items that could then be put up for sale on the market board as well. Also, depending on the market, Fete token items can sell well, so if you ever see a Fete event up at the Firmament, it's good to grab a job that could use the exp and do the Fetes for the tokens

Just craft what the market board bots craft. Make retainers on all the nodes in your data center. Trick the bots into pricing their price floor. Buy at the price floor, then resell on other servers. I've made almost 2 billion gil this year doing this. Tips for discovering market board bot groups: they're usually located in a private FC (recruiting turned off), with one leader with maxed out DoH/DoL. The other FC members are high ranking, but are low level. Another huge indicator is if the main person that is crafting is never logged in, or always logged in. The botters have found a new method to mask their logins. That is, the ones that are never logged in are logged in, but they do not appear in search results. The ones that are always logged in are the mom and pop gil sellers / botters. That is, they're new to this and are easy to steal profits from. Happy hunting

A big part of making Gil with crafting is also gathering your own mats. Leveling even just one of miner or botanist will cut Gil you spend on mats in half practically.

I’m not sure I understand what you mean. If I’m trying to sell item ‘A’ for 100,000 gil, if I gather all the mats myself that costs me nothing and I make 100,000 from the sale. But if I buy the mats to make item ‘A’ for 15,000 gil then when I sell item ‘A’ my net gain is only 85,000 gil. Buying the mats to make the item ‘A’ will always net you less net profit than if you gather the mats for free by gathering yourself. Unless I’m misunderstanding what you are saying

Its kinda funny how there are actual billionaires in FFXIV while I have never had more than one and a half million gil while playing since version 2.0 in 2013 :'D For me its really frustrating when I run out of money and craft some high quality equipment (itemlevel 510 for example) and literally noone is buying it in the next couple of weeks while its value decreases as prices might get cheaper over time. I still haven't found out what I am doing wrong as the only semi-effective method for me is to farm as many materials at the diadem as possible to sell them for a decent price :(

If you have the patience and consistency, do duty roulettes, finish msq (if you haven’t finished), level all your crafters/gatherers to 80 by doing ishgardian restoration and when you get the kupo tickets try to get casual attire and sell them for market price. Usually you just want to sell materials not just from diadem but from whatever you find. Just my tip from my Gil making journey :)

Consistently selling mats, especially ones that are used in a lot of leveling/leve recipes makes money way more often than selling hq gear, in fact, you'd probably also make more money selling the hq mats FOR the crafted gear than the actual gear. Selling ingots, lumber, etc. is a market that pretty much never dies.

Indeed, crafting mats sell quickly. Some can go for 5k-7k each, even 10k (for exarchic hq mats). Selling food, crafting gear, glamour pieces, minions. A lot of housing objects sell for a lot of gils. Gotta look at the market board.

What I recommend if you have Doh/Dol leveled up just get some basic gil selling food or miner mats then try to always have your retainers selling 20/20 if an item just drops and you aren't doing any gil stop selling it till you feel confy again.

I only started around launch of shadowbringers, and took a huge break, picked back up recently. I think I made about 20 million without dabbling into crafting at all. My advice is if you are planning to get shadowbringers relic weapons anyways, you can earn some easy cash on the side without paying too much attention to it. I made a few million recently in bozjan/zadnor zones. I was only there to progress my relic weapon quests and trying to get al iklil achievement mount, but you also earn strongboxes that can drop rare mount, minions, indigo cloth, modern aesthetics that can be sold for up to half a million on my server. I could have made more gil if I didn't discard some for inventory space before I checked market price. You also get a lot of forgotten fragments, the popular ones easily sell for 10k per. Before I took a break I was running treasure maps with a linked shell. Iirc indigo cloth and enchanted elm lumber used to only drop in treasure maps, and they used to sell for millions before 5.1. The downside is you are in a party and have to roll for reward drops, can be shafted by bad luck. I was lucky to be in a nice group, some people got lucky with multiple drops and are willing to give to others who were unlucky. Running maps over and over again can be a bit of a grind tho, but you have a lvl 80 gatherer, you can actually just gather and sell treasure maps. Some groups that grind treasure maps buy the maps off the market for a decent amount. Gathering maps barely takes any effort at all. Not sure if map grinding is good for endwalker launch but is worth considering.

I hit level 50 like 4-5 days ago and levelled my blacksmith, and miner to 55+ promptly. I then cornered the market on tools and weapons from level 50-52 and sold them on the market, I went from 600k to 5.5 mil in 4 days (about 8 hoursa day of play). All by selling gear for 40-60k at a time and making sure I'm never undercut.

I have made 515 million Gil since Shadowbringer release. Within the last 2 months I am averaging around 1.5 to 3 million a day selling things. I’m not going to say what I have have a Monopoly in, but even if you server hop and check out prices, buy low and sell high can make a easy million a day. But the MOST important thing I can tell you is “STAY ON TOP OF YOUR AUCTIONS”. Don’t just list it once and come back the next day. You should always check up on it when you are near the retainer bell or killing 5 minutes before your queue pops.

Just a tip: I stored thousands of VIII crafting materias before 5.3 by simply making rarefied lemonade (white script gears are more than enough for this). I sold them for 70+ million Gil in only 2 days. If you cannot afford top tier crafting gears, just level an alchemist or culinary and buy script gears to make VII/VIII materias by crafting collectables, and sell them at patches that update crafting gears. (I personally consider this way the fastest for making Gil)

ye same. well usually i dont hate crafting, but in ff14 there are so many systems, currencies and menus, which makes crafting a huge struggle and even more so to get into it. i just started the game and this is a common theme i discovered, even with getting endgame gear without crafting. like, turn this item in for tokens, exchange tokens with x material to get another item, then collect 3 coins, from god knows where, to enhance this item. ff14 is really bad with those things. takes away alot of fun and motivation to keep playing the game, when u have to google how to get 10 different items and currencies just to get one item you were looking for. hope they overhaul those things completely in endwalker. and for gods sake, get rid of server individual market boards and make it data center wide, it makes no sense. dont force me to use addons to be able to check prices on different servers, but say addons are against the rules. if you dont want ppl to use addons, make it so they dont need to, and if not, provide those addons in the game, ffs. guess this turned into a little rant, but yeah, as great of an experience and fun i had in ff14, it gets really frustrating and simply not fun with those things, once you hit lvl 80 and want to progress into end endgame.

But after tweaking and learning the economics of the game, people can actually get maybe at least 80-100K per day by selling high demand raw monster materials (if you're not a crafter/gatherer), Also, efficient utility of the retainer system helps speed up the process. Hehe :D

I might make 100k, or even 1 million but i won't burn myself and in the long run it matters more. The prices of high end gear is still good (for sellers) but on my server the problem is bots will undercut you within minutes and as soon as they sell something put a new one back up. This makes it almost impossible to sell something.

could also just be extremely persistent folks. I literally babysit my retainers during peak raid hours to make sure my raid foods and gear are always at the top of the list. I refresh the market board to track the list so I don't remove my listings just to check prices. Will literally do this for hours crafting more items in between checking with netflix/youtube on another monitor.

Great info man! Correct me if I’m wrong though. I feel like in FFXIV Gil isn’t as instrumental to a player’s progress as other MMOs. Having just enough to buy pots food and gear is all what someone needs. Say 1-2 mil at max? Even cheaper if they go into a patch or expansion with capped tomestones to buy mats and have crafter friends. This is opposite to older MMOs (including FFXI) where your BiS is sold on the market board for an absurd amount of Gil where having 1 billion would be necessary. It’s something I cherish about FFXIV. Being super rich is nice, but very optional. Like the most expensive things for sale are essentially cosmetic.

Yo bro, we are on the same data center. I bought a Exarchic armor for Samurai for 120k from another server and wanted to sell it on my server because it was 280k there. Before, i looked if some expensive ones got sold on my server and yes - up to ones for 450k. So i thought nice, lets make profit. And then every time i undercut the cheapest guy, like 10 others undercut me in the next 5 minutes. Then i tested something. I put it in for 150k - all the others still on around 270k - and what happened? 10 guys undercut me and are like 149k no w. I single handedly drove the price down by 140k with just a few times changing my price lol. This happens if i want to buy cheap and sell high lol :D Greetings from Twintania. I'm at 80 mil and I've noticed nobody talks about desynth for gil making. If I run mentor roulette for 5 hours a day the amount of items I get ads up to a good chunk of items to desynth. I also desynth housing roofs and cheap items. I made 300k desynthing old eden gear Another solid method is doing unreals and selling the mount. I craft too but imo it's not as good as desynth

Free to play players are capped at 300k Gill. The best way for us to make gill is quests, including Leve quests and dungeons.

Also I found half the gear I got from msq from 60-80 sold well just leaving it on the mb. Some peices on my server went for 100k for tanking gear months before Asmon started.

500k a day is my average income when I'm being lazy and only craft for around 30 minutes per day. And honestly, even if it isn't much, it's already enough to finance pretty much anything you'd need in the long run. Certainly not going to turn billionaire anytime soon but...like even buying all the mounts and minions on the markets of my DC, with the two gil sink mount would probably only amount to what, 300M? 350M? Also, these are some pretty good price for exarchic gear.

On my data center, the exarchic gears are only around 40-50k for each. I can't really get rich by this method T_T. What I'm doing now is crafting mats or gear and doing treasure hunt+roulette.

Forget crafting and.maps. Guys just do some byakko and Hades kills and get those items that drops and put those on sale and you will get millions. Bozjan/zadnor for cluster farming is good tho.

just do hades, byakko is cheap now at least on my dc its like 300k. unless you have some godshit luck, i am not sure you will be able to roll it everytime.

I'm suffering cause I've leveled all crafters and got the Aesthete but I have no more gil to actually overmeld, I've reached minimum stats but 494 CP and don't know if there is actually a good macro to use... The ones I find need more stats and use potions on top of the extra stats... Which sucks, materia is expensive

Exarchic gear and its mats is split between all the crafting classes, and you'd need the mastery book 7 or 8 for it.

Outside of 8-man map parties, botany & mining are your best bet on any server (if you hate crafting). Throw on a good movie/series and gather the items that are selling well. Do your market board research!

The closest you can get to that is to grind mobs that drop items that no one wants to farm (ie: meats, eggs, hides, skins, furs, bones, etc) and that sell well on the MB. It won't be immediate payment, but I know people that do this and make an absolute killing on the MB.

Honestly if i wanted to i could make a million a day. But i don't because thats not fun. I have made 5 mil in two weeks just from roulettes and i dont play on weekends. After buying my FC large house and my medium personal house and 6 small house for friends and another large house for a friend(its not bought yet but he waiting for one to open up), i've kindof lost interest in the gil race. Crafting is a way to make gil but its also a way to lose Gil too, you dont need to worry about top tier crafted items to make a good stable Gil income.
