100%. Why don't they have a 6-12 month savings/emergency fund all the financial gurus tell the common people to have? Oh wait, they probably do but they get bailed out so they don't have to use it.

They can't though because a lot of the money is meant to be moving through the books or held in stock etc. so they actually do need bailing out because they directly affect jobs and unemployment. It's really fascinating to see the economics of it all and to understand the pivots and strings of how it's all connected. Cash flow is important factor

Yeah, the first order of business should be keeping EVERYBODY who are forced to stay home without pay, compensation for that .. and health care provided OUTSIDE the usual money grubbing system... Next should HEALTHY businesses (who would thrive in a normal economy) be helped with costs that could topple them (rent for empty restaurants; that sort of thing). … Speculators (and "warts" on the economy like the cruise ship industry) should be allowed to "wash away" We would all be better off for it! Hector, in todays' economies, when that money is invested in people to be expressed as consumer demand, capitalists respond to that demand with increased production. That increased production (more goods and services for the money to chase) keeps inflation down. It is only when money chases the same number of products that inflation occurs. In Venezuela and Africa, the currency became useless because the printing of monies was not spread amongst the population, so there was no reason for capitalists to create more goods.

That footage really only gets shared amongst media circles with viewerships who would already be agreeable to the message. Sadly, the way online media bubbles work, this message isn't reaching the people that it needs to reach. Hate to say it, but it's tougher than you think to inform people of this type of information.

Great interview. As a proud capitalist have always said capitalism should be left to run on it own any business that wants to fail due to mismanagement should be left to fail. The fed is one of the problem in America they keep printing money which is going to come back and bite us.

So how do we move this forward? Very frustrated by what is happening!! Not feeling empowered to have any impact on the corrupt system of government that is heading up so much economic suffering to the ordinary working person. What can I or anyone else do, in the form of activism, to change this???

To answer the question, it looks like a general strike is the only thing that will bring the oligarchy to their senses and realise they cant keep benefiting at everyone else's expense. That was the main reason FDR had to come up with the original New Deal when the Wall St sociopaths in that day drove the country in a great depression, wasnt it. The only way to make greedy capitalist failures and their craven political enablers see reason is to put the fear into em. But Americans have so little practice in fighting back en masse, often thanks to a complaisant media in collusion with the very thieves screwing the working and middle class. Maybe seeing (once a fkn again) how little the politicans/gov s they 'elected' are willing to do for them vs what theyre prepared to do for the v rich and powerful will finally convince them to revolt or fight back.

One thing I wish he would have mentioned is that this bailout system in favour of poorly run corporations is not done out of ignorance. The people choosing to funnel countless billions to defunct corporations have knowledge of the ills of that plan.

Yes, very, very important explanation of the flaws in our capitalist system and the corporate-friendly, national budget-destroying solutions repeatedly crafted by our so-called leaders -- both Republicans and Democrats. Kudos to Saagar for getting this informative interview. Too bad it couldn't have been a longer segment, with more in-depth discussion.

Saagar says about Chamath's views on letting failing businesses actually fail "...do you represent a newer way of thinking about American business?". This is where we are today...it's actually shocking to hear someone espouse a necessary and crucial aspect of Capitalism...the allowance of failure.
