The major label system, just like streaming or any mass commercial business is about numbers? Why do undiscovered artist or even signed artist truly believe they are special, you become special based on your popularity, sales and longevity. You become a label staple, a asset to the label apposed to an expense. It cost millions to create a global superstar, and at least a million to get national traction. If you get signed and have not turn a profit for a fortune 500 company, you are just a number until you become a name.

An investment aids in the performance. A bet is simply a wager. If I bet on a racehorse that doesn't make the horse run any faster. If I invest in a racecar that does make the car drive faster. So is a record company investing money into an artist to aid their progression & success, or are they simply buying up a multitude of artists, *betting* that one of them will be successful enough to makeup for the rest? It used to lean more towards the former, now it leans more towards the latter.

Those 8 white men sitting around that table are going to give us AI music "stars", listened to as much by bots as by people because on paper that looks like a good return on their investment. The music will all sound the same because these 8 men are not musicians and can't tell the difference between music that moves humans and fake imitations of that. But that leaves real opportunity for human artists with souls who can create music that touches the heart because they have one. We can create an experience through music. And that's what people want.

Labels are like a Walmart. I'll sell your product to make a profit but I will not make your product for you. Also, your product becomes a new idea for my product (in house producers and writers) and I will sell mine next to yours.
