I don't understand why it would be necessary to demolish part of the complex. We can transform the entire neighborhood while preserving the entire complex. Especially since the property is not directly on the axis of the city center to which we want to connect it. Adapt the surroundings towards the complex and not the other way around !

exactly jerome! smells fishy? it's a way for rich people to make more money in bankrupt society. the collusium in rome must be kept but football teams need new stadiums every 20 years. recons are easier, cheaper from existing infra structure access angle and add the word municipal enhancement bonus tax and guv deals and future considerations with the "royalty" of real estate development, marriott there to help and guide for the skim.

I think it looks like a massive improvement, mid rise over the parking lot, pedestrian walkways and green soace and another brownfield site in the hudson site gets redeveloed. Whats not to like

The most sustainable building to construct is the one that already exists. We need adaptive reuse. Tear down and replace is Not Sustainable.

A herd of elephants in the room on this, biggest is G M moving out. Why's a new office tower better than the one they've got, already paid for? Vacant office space isn't due to work at home, which is vanishing. It's overbuilding of office space in general. It's a real good bet public funding involved will explode far beyond current rosy estimates.

Really, who cares? It's more of "lets feel sorry for Detroit"...when has it done anything for its people? Sure it's a union city but where is it now? Growup Detroit and move to the future and not dwell in the past.

yet youre another ,,gump" who waives their fist in the air without knowing a lick of history when you know full well that it was republican presidency (Reagan. Bush) hand in hand with the car company CEOs which allowed them to move car manufacturing out of Detroit and the midwest cities to Mexico, Brazil, China, and other places--effectively killing off their workforces and tax bases Mr. Know-it-All
