When Chuck came to Wendy to request, humbly ("hat-in-hand"), that she join him in visiting Charles Rhoade's new family, before Chuck can even make his request, Wendy is seething with open contempt. I did so want Chuck to go on the attack, to wit: "Every time we meet, you fling cruel, gratuitous insults at me. Have you no common, garden-variety civility?! You are incapable of compassion toward a man who has been gutted by the failure of his marriage. You presume yourself to be psychologically enlightened, but you are not. You are driven by ugly hate. Your insults and contempt produce no positive consequences for you...except to feed your ego. You don't even have the decency to be happily willing to visit Charles' new bride and daughter (who have done you no wrong) as a gesture of warm courtesy. Shame on you." Wendy has been presented to us as a compassionate psychotherapist, educated to perceive the nuanced layers of human behavior, educated to seek choices/maneuvers which solve problems wisely. It is shocking that the writers have chosen to depict this character descending into the worst of hate-soaked, simplistic vindictiveness. It is significant that it started with Chuck's public confession about BDSM. There, in the AxeCap office, if Wendy had wriggled her eyebrows salaciously and winked, her co-workers would have grinned and returned to work. For chrissakes, the woman lives in New York City, hardly a bastion of prudery (the Overton Window there is shifted decisively toward tolerance; when tested it shifts further toward tolerance). Her mortified rage makes no sense and serves her very badly. An insouciant shrug of the shoulders would have been the choice of a wise woman. The writers, for the purpose of plot mechanics, have given us a woman who is NOT wise. In Season 7, Wendy admonishes Chuck to do what's in the best interest of the children. She has some nerve. If her highest priority had been the best interest of the children, she would have kept the marriage intact. It's not as if Chuck had been a cruel, abusive husband. And, if she could not have continued in the marriage as it had been, she could at least have kept the HOME intact. To uproot the children from the only house they had ever known, a house for which they surely had a deep, sentimental affection...to uproot them, to remove them to her new, cold, charmless, minimalist penthouse apartment...that was flat cruel. Yeah, I know that "Billions" is fiction. Nevertheless, it pisses me off that people do not apply critical thinking to the actions of Wendy Rhoades.

I enjoyed her character, but had nothing but for contempt for her as a physician. I say this with the understanding that she was in fact a psychiatrist (MD) and not a psychologist (PhD). If I'm mistaken, please forgive me. She never really acts in the best interest of her patients' *health* . Rather, she weaponizes the id. She hones their greed to a razor's edge and supercharges their sense of ruthlessness. She doesn't actually address real mental health at any time, and takes as personal offense any effort on the part of her patients to seek alternate counsel. And she does it all for millions upon millions of dollars. In other words, she violated the Hippocratic oath at nearly every opportunity. I get it. What would the show have been if the characters had behaved properly and ethically? After all, Chuck Rhoades unapologetically enjoys a life of luxury on the money Wendy earns (for as long as they're together), while trying to shut down the very institution at which she earns it. Nevertheless, I think it would have been interesting to see her as a more ethically conflicted character.... one who was aware that she was not really a physician any longer.

At least we got 5 good seasons before it became a complete dumpster fire. Couldn’t make it past episode 3 in season 6. They care more about being woke than telling a good story. Got a refund from Amazon.

Meh. I normally skip through her scenes. Without Axe the show is like her character. Both overrated and incessantly boring, with a side of sanctimony that makes it especially irritating. The only character that is less believable is the overacting Axe sidekick that has all the charisma of wonderbread.
